In his novel entitled The Meursault Investigation (Meursault, contre-enquête) Kamel Daoud shows human weakness and anger against the religion, the same as they are depicted in Albert Camus’s works. His character, Haroun, who is a brother of the Arab killed in The Stranger by Camus, is in the quest for his identity. Being traumatized by his mother’s hold over him, he learns French in order to be able to express his disappointment over the world and his country where he feels as a stranger.

Par galvenajām pētījuma vietām izvēlēti laukumi pie Latvijas Nacionālas bibliotēkas un Latvijas Nacionālā mākslas muzeja, kā arī dažas no skaitbordistu biežāk izmantotajām Rīgas ielām. Darba teorētiskais ietvars ir balstīts M. Rodmanas idejā, ka tā pati telpa iegūst dažādas nozīmes caur tās lietotāju pieredzēm, kā arī S. Highmann's Theorem on Discrete Sets

In this paper we investigate properties of different classes of discrete sets with respect to the partial-order of subpicture. In particular we take in consideration the classes of convex polyominoes and L-convex polyominoes. In the first part of the paper we study closure properties of these classes with respect the order and we give a new characterization of L-convex polyominoes. In the second part we pose the question to extend Higman’s theoremto discrete sets. We give a negative answer in the general case and we prove that the set of L-convex polyominoes is well-partially-ordered by using a representation of L-convex polyominoes in terms of words of a regular language.

The purpose of the current study aimed to examine the performance related experiences of elite karate athletes prior to a major international competition. The secondary aim was to explore the relationship between athlete and coach performance ratings. Athletes selected emotional and non-emotional words to describe their experiences related to performance. Results indicated that best performance was characterized by high intensities of helpful emotion and non-emotion descriptors, while worst performance was characterized by high intensities of harmful descriptors. Does periodization work? Athletes perform better in major events than in minor competitions

Previous studies on periodization have led to the view that most athletes fail to peak at major events. These conclusions might be based on definitions of “peak performance” that are too narrow. In this study, a track and field athlete was defined as succeeding in a competition if their outcome was within the acceptable range from the best result of the season. The data are from seven championship finals and semifinals together with 42 Diamond League competitions from the 2010s, altogether 7,087 individual results. The aim of this study was to find out the potential of the Minoritest to identify the most likely talented gymnasts to join the national team pre-training group in Finland. The study examined the relationships between gymnasts´ (N=215, age 10–13) Minoritest results (2006–2010) and success in competitions after the Minoritests until the end of 2016. The competition results were also compared between the gymnasts who had participated in the test and a random number (N=180) of gymnasts who had not. PAKKI on laaja pakkausteknologian tutkimushanke, joka on toteutettu vuosina 2009-2010. Hankkeeseen osallistui viisi tutkimusosapuolta sekä kahdeksan yrityspartneria. Projektin johdosta ja koordinoinnista vastasi Jyväskylän yliopisto. Muut tutkimusosapuolet olivat Maa- ja elintarviketalouden tutkimuskeskus MTT, Tampereen yliopisto, Aalto-yliopisto ja Lappeenrannan teknillinen yliopisto.
