Subtelomeric 1q43q44 microdeletions cause a syndrome associating intellectual disability, microcephaly, seizures and anomalies of the corpus callosum. Despite several previous studies assessing genotype-phenotype correlations, the contribution of genes located in this region to the specific features of this syndrome remains uncertain. Modelling human neurodevelopmental disorders is important in biomedical research since the brain cannot be easily accessed in humans. In this chapter, we describe a series of standardized procedures for the reliable analysis of neuroanatomical phenotypes (NAPs) of the adult mouse brain using quantitative 2D histological practices. School climate as predictor of teachers’ capacity to meet the educational needs of adopted children in Italy

The current study examines the association between different components of school climate (teacher–principal and teacher–parent relationships, parents’ involvement in school activities, connection between school and the local services) and teachers’ competences and knowledge regarding the adoption experience. Participants were 573 teachers (95.7% women; mean age = 47.06, SD = 8.66, ranging between 25 and 65) residing in three Italian regions characterised by rates of international adoptions that are higher than the national average. Parental Involvement in Math Homework: Links to Children’s Performance and Motivation

The present study examined the longitudinal associations between children’s perceptions of parental involvement in math homework (control and support) and their math performance and motivation (taskpersistent homework behavior and math self-concept). Children (n = 512) reported their perceptions concerning parental involvement in sixthgrade math homework. The Effect of Textual Producer-Generated Descriptions on Demand of Mobile Applications

We analyze the impact of different app description characteristics on app demand on the basis of panel data for six months and 1081 distinct apps. We use several text mining techniques in order to operationalize the descriptions’ textual characteristics. The extracted variables are then used in an econometric investigation to examine their impact on apps’ downloads. Our results provide evidence that app descriptions have an effect on demand. Apps with upfront price should be described in a neutral tone. Apps without an upfront price but with in-app purchase option should be offered with rather short descriptions that are written in a formal and subjective style. peerReviewed

The Approach Behavior to Angry Words in Athletes : A Pilot Study

An increasing number of studies have found that athletes have a higher level of aggression than non-athletes. Anger is an important factor in the generation of aggressive behavior, and anger has been found to relate to both approach behavior and avoidance behavior.
