A virtual spreader to overcome experimental limits: Example of use to deepen the meaning of the transverse coefficient of variation
2017
International audience; A virtual spreader was modelled by combining the use of theoretical motion equations and statistical distributions of input parameters. These parameters were deduced from experimental measurements using a custom-made spreader, an imaging system, a particle impact recording device and a rotating test bench. Using this model, each spread pattern was computed using a random selection of values following the statistical distribution of each input parameter. Using simulations, we quantified how the CV value was affected by application rates and measurement protocols whatever spreader settings. Simulations showed the CV value and its measurement variability increased when …
Study and modelling of the impacts of agricultural practices on the abundance of soil microbial communities: dynamics at the landscape scale
2022
Soil Microbial communities play a major role in soil fertility and are important as bioindicators to evaluate the impacts of agricultural practices on soils. The challenge is to promote their use in order to support / accelerate innovation in the agricultural sector. The goal of this thesis was to characterize spatial and temporal dynamics of soil microbialcommunities at the scale of an agricultural landscape in order to create models and propose a Decision Support Instrument (DSI) for stakeholders in the agricultural communities. For this, a multi-disciplinary approach was used combining microbial ecology, environment assessment, spatial computer modeling, associated to a participatory app…

The use of Burgundy stone from ancient times to the present day
2014
International audience; Burgundy stone is widely reputed for its quality and diversity. Because it is suitable for the various requirements of construction and sculpture, it has been used continuously since ancient times. Inventories drawn up so far by researchers have been piecemeal. A new comprehensive inventory has now been undertaken with a view to renewing the involvement of various academic disciplines (archaeology and history of architecture, socio-economic history and history of art). A partnership has been formed among various laboratories at the University of Burgundy in order to ensure the validity of archaeological and historical data, develop an open platform in the form of a W…
Information Spatiale et Archéologie
2011
2011
We propose a method to identify and simulate settling choices Roman rural settlements using predictive modeling, based on the method developed in the 1990s by F.-P. Tourneux within the Archaeomedes project to characterize and compare the environmental contexts of Roman rural settlements in several areas of southern France. We have developped the model for three regions with very different topographical conditions : The Vaunage region (Languedoc, France), the Argens-Maures region (Provence, France) and Zuid-Limburg (Netherlands).

2019
International audience; In North-Western Europe, regional settlement patterns that were dispersed in 800 CE became much more concentrated and hierarchical in 1200 CE (Tannier et al. 2014). This phenomenon occurred in all regions but the resulting level of concentration and hierarchy of settlement patterns differed notably among the regions. Several processes jointly explain this major transition (Cura et al. 2017). •The dismantling of the Carolingian Empire and the dissipation of powers induced struggles among lords and thus a rise in violence. The result of this was the creation of castles as well as an increase of the need of protection for peasant households•The militarisation of the soc…
Capability of a high resolution hydroclimatic modelling chain to simulate soil water deficit indices for Douglas-fir and common Beeches over Burgundy.
2016
During the 2003 drought and heat wave event, douglas-fir and common beech stands in Burgundy have been heavily affected, and presented symptoms of dieback and mortality. This event seems to be the first occurrence of expected climatic changes in the near future and questions their sustainability in Burgundy since their climate vulnerability is mainly due to the amplitude and accumulated water constraints exercised during their growing cycle. In the context of climate change and in order to provide information to forest managers who partly rely on a mapping of the climatic constraints until the end of this century, this work explores the ability of a high resolution hydroclimatic modelling c…
