Classification of flavonoid compounds by using entropy of information theory

2013

A total of 74 flavonoid compounds are classified into a periodic table by using an algorithm based on the entropy of information theory. Seven features in hierarchical order are used to classify structurally the flavonoids. From these features, the first three mark the group or column, while the last four are used to indicate the row or period in a table of periodic classification. Those flavonoids in the same group and period are suggested to show maximum similarity in properties. Furthermore, those with only the same group will present moderate similarity. In this report, the flavonoid compounds in the table, whose experimental data in bioactivity and antioxidant properties have been prev…

Do dynamic effects play a significant role in enzymatic catalysis? A theoretical analysis of formate dehydrogenase.

2010

A theoretical study of the protein dynamic effects on the hydride transfer between the formate anion and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD + ), catalyzed by formate dehydrogenase (FDH), is presented in this paper. The analysis of free downhill molecular dynamic trajectories, performed in the enzyme and compared with the reaction in aqueous solution, has allowed the study of the dynamic coupling between the reacting fragments and the protein or the solvent water molecules, as well as an estimation of the dynamic effect contribution to the catalytic effect from calculation of the transmission coefficient in the enzyme and in solution. The obtained transmission coefficients for the enzyme…

Labdane Diterpenoids from Marrubium globosum ssp. libanoticum

2006

From the aerial parts of Marrubium globosum ssp. libanoticum, seven labdane diterpenoids were isolated. Three of them are new natural products [(13R)-9alpha,13alpha-epoxylabda-6beta(19),16(15)-diol dilactone (2), deacetylvitexilactone (7), marrulanic acid (8)], whereas the other four, namely, (13S)-9alpha,13alpha-epoxylabda-6beta(19),16(15)-diol dilactone (1), cyllenin A (3), 15-epi-cyllenin A (4), and marrulibanoside, are previously known compounds. The structures of 2, 7, and 8 were determined by spectroscopic and chemical methods.

Polysaccharide/polyaminoacid composite scaffolds for modified DNA release.

2009

Abstract In this work composite polymeric films or sponges, based on hyaluronic acid (HA) covalently crosslinked with α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)(2-aminoethylcarbamate)- d , l -aspartamide (PE), have been prepared and characterized as local gene delivery systems. In particular, HA/PE scaffolds have been loaded with PE/DNA interpolyelectrolyte complexes, employing PE as a macromolecular crosslinker for HA and as a non-viral vector for DNA. In vitro studies showed that HA/PE films and sponges have high compatibility with human dermal fibroblasts and they give a sustained DNA release, whose trend can be easily tailored by varying the crosslinking ratio between HA and PE. Electrophoresis analysi…

Diastereoselective Intramolecular Additions of Allyl- and Propargylsilanes to Iminium Ions: Synthesis of Cyclic and Bicyclic Quaternary Amino Acids

2010

Chiral imino lactones derived from (R)-phenylglycinol containing an allyl- or propargyltrimethylsilyl group in the side chain readily cyclized in the presence of acidic reagents to afford spirocyclic compounds with high diastereoselectivity. Removal of the chiral auxiliary produced 2-substituted 1-aminocycloalkanecarboxylic acids, whereas further cyclizations by means of metathesis or hydroamination reactions led to bicyclic derivatives of pipecolic acid and proline.

Cytotoxic 14-Membered Macrolides from a Mangrove-Derived Endophytic Fungus, Pestalotiopsis microspora.

2016

Seven new 14-membered macrolides, pestalotioprolides C (2), D-H (4-8), and 7-O-methylnigrosporolide (3), together with four known analogues, pestalotioprolide B (1), seiricuprolide (9), nigrosporolide (10), and 4,7-dihydroxy-13-tetradeca-2,5,8-trienolide (11), were isolated from the mangrove-derived endophytic fungus Pestalotiopsis microspora. Their structures were elucidated by analysis of NMR and MS data and by comparison with literature data. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis was used to confirm the absolute configurations of 1, 2, and 10, while Mosher's method and the TDDFT-ECD approach were applied to determine the absolute configurations of 5 and 6. Compounds 3-6 showed signif…

Eukaryotic tRNAs(Pro): primary structure of the anticodon loop; presence of 5-carbamoylmethyluridine or inosine as the first nucleoside of the antico…

1990

The modified nucleoside U*, located in the first position of the anticodon of yeast, chicken liver and bovine liver tRNA(Pro) (anticodon U*GG), has been determined by means of TLC, HPLC, ultraviolet spectrum and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The structure was established as 5-carbamoylmethyluridine (ncm5U). In addition, we report on the primary structures of the above-mentioned tRNAs as well as those which have the IGG anticodon. In yeast, the two tRNA(Pro) (anticodons U*GG and IGG) differ by eight nucleotides, whereas in chicken and in bovine liver, both anticodons are carried by the same 'body tRNA' with one posttranscriptional exception at position 32, where pseudouridine is asso…

N-sulfinyl amines as a nitrogen source in the asymmetric intramolecular aza-Michael reaction: total synthesis of (-)-pinidinol.

2010

N-Sulfinyl amines have been successfully employed as nitrogen nucleophiles for the asymmetric intramolecular aza-Michael reaction. The synthetic strategy involves a cross-metathesis reaction followed by the Michael-type cyclization, either in a base-catalyzed two-step procedure or in a tandem fashion. The developed methodology allows access to chiral substituted pyrrolidines and piperidines bearing one or two stereocenters and it has been applied to the synthesis of the piperidine alkaloid (-)-pinidinol.

Synthesis and preliminary antibacterial evaluation of Linezolid-like 1,2,4-oxadiazole derivatives

2012

In the present study the synthesis of new Linezolid-like molecules has been achieved by substitution of the oxazolidinone central heterocyclic moiety with a 1,2,4-oxadiazole ring. Two series of 1,2,4-oxadiazoles, bearing different side-chains and containing a varying number of fluorine atoms, were synthesized and preliminarily tested for biological activity against some Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria using Linezolid and Ceftriaxone as reference drugs

Terphenyl Derivatives from Allantophomopsis lycopodina.

2016

Three secondary fungal metabolites 1–3 with a benzo[b]naphtho[2,1-d]furan skeleton were isolated from submerged cultures of the ascomycete Allantophomopsis lycopodina. The NMR-based structure elucidation was challenging due to a low H/C ratio of only 0.64 and 0.68, respectively. NMR measurements in two different solvents and the use of NMR experiments such as HSQC-TOCSY and LR-HSQMBC proved to be helpful in this respect. The proposed structures obtained from the comprehensive analysis of the NMR data were verified by comparison of recorded and computed NMR chemical shifts from quantum chemical calculations of several constitutional isomers and were further analyzed with the aid of the DP4 a…
