How Family and Emotional Ties Are Used As Coercive Instruments by the Exploiters on the Romanian Feminine Migration. The Study Case of Italy
2016
After the Fall of the Communist Regime, Italy started to receive major flows of immigrant Romanian women, caused by the transformation of the economic and social structure in Romania (Diminescu, 2003; Sandu, 2006). Due to the Patriarchal family model in Italy, the majority of this women have come to substitute the emancipated Italian women in the sector of domestic work and care giving (Pitch, 2004). Before the entrance of Romania into the European Union, many women have had to recur to smuggling and trafficking networks in order to entry into the destination country, exposing themselves to exploitative conditions as well as vulnerable situations. Despite the fact that during the first migr…
"I use it correctly!": The use of ICTs among Italian grandmothers in a generational perspective
2018
In this project, we investigated the role played by digital media and information and communication technologies (ICTs) in building intergenerational and intragenerational relations for grandparents. Specifically, we investigated the possible relationships between grandmothers, children, and grandchildren, with the aim of understanding the dynamics of intergenerational exchanges and how grandmothers experience the use of the Internet as a tool to facilitate communication with family members. The research shows that the reflections regarding the role of the Internet among elderly people are often linked to a generational identity and generational belonging and involve constant comparison wit…
La celebrazione della maternità nella pedagogia di propaganda fascista fra ideologia e realtà
2019
This paper presents an analysis of the fascist ideology of motherhood, to find at that time the roots of the present crisis of the family and the parenting relationships. Mussolini, in accord with the positivistic thesis about a biological inferiority of the woman, celebrated the role of the “oblative mother”, oblivious of herself and totally devoted to the care of her husband and children, to found a totalitarian state on the patriarchal family. The celebration of the so called soldier’s mother was supported by a “differential pedagogy” that, through national organizations, promoted a strict gender education since early childhood. However, the fascist image of the mother and bride did not …

Spatial and temporal pattern of neuroblasts, proliferation, and Engrailed expression during early brain development in Tenebrio molitor L. (Coleopter…
2003
Abstract In insects, the knowledge of embryonic brain development is still fragmentary, and comparative data are scarce. In this study, we explored aspects of embryonic brain development in the coleopteran Tenebrio molitor . A detailed description is provided of the spatial and temporal pattern of the embryonic brain neuroblasts during 18–60% of embryonic development. Approximately 125 brain NBs have been identified in each hemisphere of the brain at about 40% of embryonic development. A subset of five neuroblasts, among them the two progenitors of the mushroom bodies and two progenitors of the larval antennal lobe, are morphologically identifiable by their larger size. As revealed by incor…

“I feel many contradictory emotions” : Finnish mothers' discursive struggles with motherhood

Background According to relational dialectics theory, discourses are systems of meaning that are coproduced in interaction. Although discursive research on motherhood has identified various discourses, research on the interplay among competing motherhood discourses is in its infancy. Method Qualitative questionnaire data from 479 Finnish mothers of infants were analyzed using contrapuntal analysis. Mothers' responses to three open-ended questions were analyzed inductively…
Adopción en casos especiales y unidad del status filiationis en el derecho italiano: ¿cómo repercute en el plano sucesorio?
2022
In the Italian legal system, there has recently been recognition by the Constitutional Court in adoptions in particular cases of the existence of civil relations between the adoptee and the relatives of the adopter, thus equalizing the margins of protection of minors, regardless of the situations of fact or law from which the new status of the child originated. This jurisprudential work is full of considerable systematic reflections and is intended to be applied not only to the hypothesis of adoption by same-sex couples, but also to all those cases in which a state of semi-permanent abandonment or cyclical abandonment occurs. Notwithstanding the negative value directed at the forms of surro…
