Reversible Supracolloidal Self-Assembly of Cobalt Nanoparticles to Hollow Capsids and Their Superstructures

| openaire: EC/FP7/291364/EU//MIMEFUN The synthesis and spontaneous, reversible supracolloidal hydrogen bond-driven self-assembly of cobalt nanoparticles (CoNPs) into hollow shell-like capsids and their directed assembly to higher order superstructures is presented. CoNPs and capsids form in one step upon mixing dicobalt octacarbonyl (Co2CO8) and p-aminobenzoic acid (pABA) in 1,2-dichlorobenzene using heating-up synthesis without additional catalysts or stabilizers. This leads to pABA capped CoNPs (core ca. 5nm) with a narrow size distribution. Bio-inspired Ni dinuclear complexes as heterogeneous catalysts for hydrogen evolution

Abstract A major challenge in the sustainable production of hydrogen is lowering the electrochemical overpotential and the activation energy of the hydrogen evolution reaction. Some enzymes have two metallic Ni centers and catalyze this reaction with high activity. Taking inspiration from them, we have developed two novel dinuclear Ni(II) complexes, Ni-PATIO and Ni-PACO, with promise as molecular catalysts. Ni-PACO exhibits a square-planar geometry for both Ni(II) and two-fold rotational symmetry both in solid and solution states, whereas Ni-PATIO displays one square-planar Ni(II) center and one octahedral Ni(II) configuration, which confer it magnetic properties. Crystallisation studies of ethyl resorcinarene with diquats 2b and 3a (1,4-dimethyl-1,4-diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane dibromide and 1,4-diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane dichloride, respectively) resulted in hydrogen bonded molecular capsules in which the cations are encapsulated in between the cavities of two resorcinarene molecules and anions are located in the middle of the lower rim ethyl chains.

In contrast to the Eastern Palaearctic region a high degree of cryptic diversity was discovered among temperate bats of the Western Palaearctic region in the last ten years. Climatic oscillations caused severe changes in the distribution of species throughout the Palaearctic region during the Pleistocene. Exploring multiple taxa can help to understand general evolutionary differentiation processes. The paper expresses an attempt to tackle the problem due to the presence of micropollutants in wastewater which may be able to disrupt the endocrine system of some organisms. These kinds of compounds are ubiquitously present in municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) effluents. Darba mērķis. Noskaidrot pirmreizējā pieraksta glaukomas riska grupas pacientu biežumu, to subjektīvos un objektīvos datus. Darba metodes. Pētījumā tika iekļauti pirmreizējā pieraksta pacienti kuri sasnieguši vismaz 40 gadu vecumu un nav datu par glaukomu anamnēzē. Kā skrīninga metode tika izmantota optiskā koherentā tomogrāfija un citi izmeklējumi (bezkontakta tonometrs, autorefraktometrs), kā arī 15 jautājumu anketa, lai noskaidrotu glaukomas riska faktorus un diagnozes varbūtību. Rezultāti. No pētījumā iekļautajiem 50 pacientiem, asimptomātiska glaukoma tika konstatēta 4% pacientu (n=2) un 2% pacientu (n=1) aizdomas par glaukomu. Isolation frequency and efficiency of mycoparasitic Pythium species in the West Mediterranean region of Turkey

Abstract A total of 132 mycoparasitic Pythium isolates were obtained from the soil samples taken from fruit orchards, vegetable fields, carnation greenhouses, sugarbeet fields and cereal fields in the West Mediterranean region of Turkey. The Oomycetes were isolated by using; surface soil dilution plate, sclerotia bait and precolonised plate methods. Isolates were identified as P. acanthophoron, P. amasculinum, P. lycopersicum, P. oligandrum, P. periplocum and P. paroecandrum, according to their morphological and molecular characteristics.
