Burāšanas tūrisma attistības iespējas Baltijas valstīs un tā potenciāls starptautiskajā tirgū.
2018
Darbs sastāv no četrām nodaļām.
2019
Bakalaura darbā analizēta informācija par Pāvilostu, krasta procesiem, preterozijas aizsardzības pasākumiem, kādi tiek izmantoti citviet pasaulē, to izmantošanas priekšrocībām un trūkumiem. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot krasta reljefa erozijas un akumulācijas intensitāti tiešā Pāvilostas ostas tuvumā. Darba pētnieciskajā daļā ir izveidots kartogrāfiskais materiāls, kurā salīdzinātas krasta līnijas izmaiņas posmos ap Pāvilostas ostu kopš 1942. gada. Krasta nogāzes virsūdens daļas dinamika analizēta, izmantojot Latvijas jūras krastu ģeoloģisko procesu monitoringa sistēmā uzkrātos vēsturiskos datus, kā arī datus, kas iegūti 2018. g. rudenī un 2019. g. pavasarī veiktajos mērījumos. Lai izvērtētu P…
Effective hemostasis during minor surgery in a case of hereditary combined deficiency of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors.
2009
Combined deficiency of the vitamin K-dependent clotting factors (VKCFD) is a rare bleeding disorder involving defective gamma-carboxylation of coagulation factors II , VII, IX and X as well as natural anticoagulants protein C and protein S. The disease is characterized by a cluster of different, often life threatening, bleeding symptoms occurring both spontaneously and in a surgical setting. In the present paper we describe two different treatment modalities to be used both in a programmed surgical procedure and in an emergency scenario. As this disease is a natural model that resembles oral anticoagulation, our experience discloses a possible rationale in the use of recombinant activated …
Vitamin A Deficiency and Alterations in the Extracellular Matrix
2014
Vitamin A or retinol which is the natural precursor of several biologically active metabolites can be considered the most multifunctional vitamin in mammals. Its deficiency is currently, along with protein malnutrition, the most serious and common nutritional disorder worldwide. It is necessary for normal embryonic development and postnatal tissue homeostasis, and exerts important effects on cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. These actions are produced mainly by regulating the expression of a variety of proteins through transcriptional and non-transcriptional mechanisms. Extracellular matrix proteins are among those whose synthesis is known to be modulated by vitamin A. Reti…
Hypoxia Positively Regulates the Expression of pH-Sensing G-Protein–Coupled Receptor OGR1 (GPR68)
2016
Background & Aims: A novel family of proton-sensing G-proteinâcoupled receptors, including ovarian cancer G-proteinâcoupled receptor 1 (OGR1) (GPR68) has been identified to play a role in pH homeostasis. Hypoxia is known to change tissue pH as a result of anaerobic glucose metabolism through the stabilization of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α. We investigated how hypoxia regulates the expression of OGR1 in the intestinal mucosa and associated cells. Methods: OGR1 expression in murine tumors, human colonic tissue, and myeloid cells was determined by quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. The influence of hypoxia on OGR1 expression was studied in monocytes/macrophages and…

Role of polysialic acid (PSA) in the control of food intake and body weight
2013
Hypothalamus plays a major role in the regulation of energy homeostasis by the presence of neural circuits controlling food intake. These circuits are plastic and can be rewired during adulthood. We hypothesized that synaptic plasticity can occur during physiological conditions. We have shown that synaptic contact on hypothalamic anorexigen POMC neurons are rewired in mouse upon high fat diet (HFD). This synaptic process is mandatory to adjust energy intake and requires the glycan PSA (polysialic acid). PSA promotes synaptic plasticity in the brain by the weakening of cell-to-cell interaction by addition on NCAM (neural cell adhesion molecule). We hypothesized that a defect in brain synapti…

Xenohormones and oral homeostasis : impact on taste preferences and salivary glands
2012
Oral homeostasis strongly influences taste perceptions. It depends on a healthy oral epithelium and salivary gland secretions, which are both regulated by sex hormones. The aim of this thesis was to identify the effect of an oral exposure to Bisphenol A, a food packaging and dental sealer component, and of a soy-diet containing phytoestrogens on oral homeostasisTwo experiments were conducted in adult rats: a dose-response study of BPA (5μg 12.5 mg / kj / day), and a study about the impact of a soy-diet on the BPA disrupting effects. By using gustation choice tests, and histological and qPCR-TR molecular approach, we identify for the first time an action of BPA on dry mouth. We found that BP…
