La diffusion des NTIC au sein du réseau urbain français et le rôle des acteurs publics

2001

The study deals with the ways in which the general public and the government make use of new information and communication technologies. We analyze the physical locations of Internet sites with “fr” as their domain names. The data were provided by the French NIC center (AFNIC). Using this sample (a quarter of all French sites), we find a rather even distribution of French sites in the Paris area plus the other main French cities, and the remainder of France. In addition, we try to enumerate the initiatives of the public actors responsible for the regional planning of the new information and communication technologies. Firstly, we clarify the economic and legal framework in which public acto…

Impact of organizing working hours (5 shifts of 8 hours per week vs 3 shifts of 12 hours per week) on health and job strain

2015

This article gives an account of research carried out on working hours in a French hospital and specifically the impact on two ways of organizing working hours (12 hour shifts vs 8 hour shifts) on workers health and job strain as perceived by the health care providers. Based on 255 questionnaires, this research indicates that the health care providers who work in 12 hour shifts and 8 hour shifts have the same perception of their health and job strain. However, there are some differences: the health care providers working in 12 hour shifts feel less fatigue and emotional exhaustion than the health care providers working in 8 hour shifts. We discuss these results taking into account that: i) …

Managing in-country transportation risks in humanitarian supply chains by logistics service providers: Insights from the 2015 Nepal earthquake

2017

International audience; Humanitarian supply chains (HSCs) play a central role in effective and efficient disaster relief operations. Transportation has a critical share in HSCs and managing its risks helps to avoid further disruptions in relief operations. However, there is no common approach to or culture of risk management that its applicability has been studied through recent cases. This paper incorporates an empirical research design and makes a threefold contribution: first, it identifies in-country transportation risks during Nepal response. Second, we evaluate afore identified risks through an expert driven risk assessment grid. Third, we use our field data to study how some humanita…

We therefore questioned the existence and effect of current drought management strategies on the actual impacts and how drought is perceived by relevant stakeholders. Over 700 participants from 28 European countries provided insights into drought hazard and impact perception and current management strategies. The study concludes with an urgent need to collectively combat drought risk via a European macro-level drought governance approach.11. Il Paradigma della Città Fluida

2013

In current global crisis the strong flows of financial social and relational capitals that powered urban regeneration over the last fifteen years are no longer available to be tapped in an indiscriminate manner as was the case until just a few years ago. The most dynamic cities in the future will no longer be those that are able to attract urban projects and investors driven by the real estate market or leisure-based development but the cities that have deep and different cultural resources and that are able to use them as the basis for creating new urban cultures and for generating new economic values. Revitalising waterfront is no longer easy opportunity for long-term investments or for using the financial capital gains of corporation or hedge funds but a more creative-driven port city has to provide precious opportunities for real development – not only quantitative but more and more qualitative – that is able to produce effects in both the domain of collective assets and that of private capitals.Settore ICAR/21 - Urbanistica

Conflicting interests but filtered key targets: Stakeholder and resource-dependency analyses at a University of Applied Sciences

2013

Stakeholder theory (SHT) emphasizes that different stakeholders and their interests need to be identified and addressed to maximize firm performance. This emphasis can make the design of performance measurement systems (PMS) challenging because the interests of stakeholders are often in conflict. Based on previous research and using stakeholder and resource dependency theories, we develop a theoretical model suggesting that resource dependency acts as a “filter” in selecting which of the PMS design measures are emphasized for decision making. We find various conflicting interests between stakeholders in our case organization (a unit of University of Applied Sciences in Finland) that affecte…

A Survey on Privacy in Decentralized Online Social Networks

2018

Decentralized Online Social Networks (DOSNs) have recently captured the interest of users because of the more control given to them over their shared contents. Indeed, most of the user privacy issues related to the centralized Online Social Network (OSN) services (such as Facebook or Google+) do not apply in the case of DOSNs because of the absence of the centralized service provider. However, these new architectures have motivated researchers to investigate new privacy solutions that allow DOSN’s users to protect their contents by taking into account the decentralized nature of the DOSNs platform. In this survey, we provide a comprehensive overview of the privacy solutions adopted by…

Microvideos como herramienta docente en Química General

2017

[EN] The objective of the present communication is the preparation of short duration videos, less than 2 minutes (microvideos) where the main ideas of the different topics of the subject General Chemistry would be summarized in a fashion way, enhancing the teaching/learningn process. The development of the videos must be done by the students to fix the main concepts of the lectures and to acquire transversal key competences such as collaborative learning, problem solving skills, self-directed learning and organizative and technologic skills. The obtained results can be considered as preliminar reults, because of effectivity has been evaluated qualitatively. To obtain more realistic conclusion…
