Articulating the Practice Architectures of Collaborative Research Practice

2016

This chapter explores a collaborative practice of comparative data analysis through the researching activities of four researchers from Australia and Finland. We interrogate the ontological and empirical reality we experienced while engaged in a practice of analysing narrative data on mentoring. In this chapter, we are not reporting on the outcomes of our analysis of mentoring practice; instead we focus on our collaborative engagement, articulating the practice architectures of our research practice. This collaborative research practice was pre-figured by: (1) philosophical traditions instituted through a theory of practice architectures; and (2) normalised practices of researching mentorin…

Microbiome and Probiotics in Acne Vulgaris—A Narrative Review

2022

Acne vulgaris is a chronic disease characterised by the appearance of eruptions such as whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, papules, and cysts. Among factors that cause acne vulgaris are the abnormal keratinisation of the sebaceous canal, bacterial colonisation (Cutibacterium acnes), increased sebum production, genotypic factors, and hormonal disorders. Treatment is often long and tedious, and can lead to a reduction in quality of life and social isolation. The intestinal microbiota is greatly important in the formation of acne lesions. It is also responsible for the proper immunity of the organism. Acne is a disease that can be related to the condition of the digestive tract and its microbio…

Detecting Kernel Vulnerabilities During the Development Phase

2015

Testing is one of the major problems in Linux kernel development cycle. Security analysis and ensuring no new vulnerabilities has been introduced is one of the toughest issues of testing. Kernel developers attempt to find as many security issues as possible before merging with the mainline branch. Failure to detect vulnerabilities will result in vulnerable kernel shipped by distribution and vulnerable systems. The kernel developers can choose between several industrial and open source tools to assist in the development process and shorten the development cycle. (Though not as many as user space developers. Kernel tools are limited and rare compared to user space tools) Some of these tools a…

Making Gibellina Nuova

2012

The 1968 earthquake destroyed the Sicilian town Gibellina. The citizens were then moved into a New City drawn by the Institute for Social Building Development ISES in a plain formerly used only for agriculture. How to give identity to an urban infrastructural system spread between fields? Quaroni and Anversa, who were comissioned to construct the building of the main church, combined the necessity of identity with a symbol of the city's rebirth project. The dome of the church is a spherical structure, recognizable in this way from close-up as well as from far away. “To make the city” it is necessary to embed the church into a context through the design of public space. Only then, Quaroni’s …

FARE SPAZIO : Latina dalla fondazione alla contemporaneità

2018
