The ECJ configuration of an EU constitutional procedural status for consumer protection

2019

Abstract This paper aims to study the configuration of a constitutional procedural status for consumers in the European Court of Justice case law. Although we can see Consumer Protection primary as an instrument to develop the EU internal market, it is also a relevant instrument to define the Individual Economic Status of EU citizens and residents as equality players in the EU market. Firstly, we will point out our motivation and objectives of the paper. After that we will explain our methodology, and we will study the EU regulation bases and the concept of consume.  Finally, we will analyse the relevant case law which developed the EU constitutional procedural status for EU consumers. Wine-making with protection of must against oxidation in a warm, semi-arid terroir

2016

In order to defend varietal aromas from oxidation before alcoholic fermentation, two musts were prepared from white grapes pre-cooled and added with ascorbic acid and solid CO2 (trial ACO2) or SO2 (trial BSO2). Experiments were performed with grapes of a white grape variety indigenous to western Sicily, the wines from which, obtained by vinification of musts protected from oxidation and poor in copper, as previously proven, have aroma descriptors ascribed to passion fruit and grapefruit skin. The smaller content in flavanols in the ACO2 trial, demonstrated that the use of solid CO2, instead of SO2, reduced the extraction of such polyphenols from grape solids. The higher content in hydroxyci…

The Evaluation of Workers by Customers as a Method of Control and Monitoring in the Firm: Digital Reputation and Data Protection

2018

Evaluation of workers by customers as a method of surveillance and control and the disclosure of results poses a series of challenges for the existing legal system. The degree and extension of monitoring of the work suffered by employees subject to surveillance and control by customers is much intense than the one set for traditional workers. The reason behind this phenomenon lies in the perspective of the customers, which makes work observable at every moment and without cost for the firm. Thus, this paper analyzes the latest regulation on data protection (GDPR) that establishes very specific restrictions when requesting and transferring information about workers.

COVID-19 Pandemic: Prevention and protection measures to be adopted at the workplace

2020

Introduction: SARS-CoV-2, identified in Wuhan, China, for the first time in December 2019, is a new viral strain, which has not been previously identified in humans; it can be transmitted both by air and via direct and indirect contact; however, the most frequent way it spreads is via droplets. Like the other viruses belonging to the same family of coronaviruses, it can cause from mild flu-like symptoms, such as cold, sore throat, cough and fever, to more severe ones such as pneumonia and breathing difficulties, and it can even lead to death. Since no effective specific drug therapy has been found yet, nor any vaccine capable of limiting the spread of this pathogen, it is important for way…

Teleradiologie mit DICOM E-mail: Empfehlungen der @GIT

2005

E-mail is ideal for ad-hoc connections in teleradiology. The DICOM standard offers the possibility to append DICOM data types as a MIME attachment to any e-mail, thus ensuring the transmission of the original DICOM data. Nevertheless, there are additional requirements (e.g. protection of data privacy) which must be obeyed. Because of the lack of given standards which would grant interoperability as well as manufacturer independence, teleradiology has not been established in Germany until today. Therefore, the IT-Team (Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Informationstechnologie, @GIT) of the Radiological Society of Germany (Deutsche Rontgengesellschaft, DRG) set up an initiative to standardise telemedic…

Water capillary absorption in porous media in different wettability conditions studied by Quantitative MRI and X-ray CT

2007

X-ray computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have been successfully applied to study both the capillary properties of several samples of Lecce stone and the performances of treatments used for protection and conservation of historical stone artifacts. The presence of water inside the sample may be visualized by both MRI and X-ray CT. For the treated samples, the different dynamics of water absorption gives indirectly the efficacy of the polymer in the rock.

L’obligation réelle environnementale : chronique d’une naissance annoncée

2016

Parasite-induced alteration of plastic response to predation threat: increased refuge use but lower food intake in Gammarus pulex infected with the a…

2014

6 pages; International audience; Larvae of many trophically-transmitted parasites alter the behaviour of their intermediate host in ways that increase their probability of transmission to the next host in their life cycle. Before reaching a stage that is infective to the next host, parasite larvae may develop through several larval stages in the intermediate host that are not infective to the definitive host. Early predation at these stages results in parasite death, and it has recently been shown that non-infective larvae of some helminths decrease such risk by enhancing the anti-predator defences of the host, including decreased activity and increased sheltering. However, these behavioura…
