2017

Objective. Ovarian cancers comprise several histologically distinct tumour groups with widely different prognosis. We aimed to describe the worldwide distribution of ovarian cancer histology and to understand what role this may play in international variation in survival. Methods. The CONCORD programme is the largest population-based study of global trends in cancer survival. Data on 681,759 women diagnosed during 1995–2009 with cancer of the ovary, fallopian tube, peritoneum and retroperitonum in 51 countries were included. We categorised ovarian tumours into six histological groups, and explored the worldwide distribution of histology. Physical Activity and Exercise: Text Mining Analysis

2021

It is currently difficult to have a global state of the art vision of certain scientific topics. In the field of physical activity (PA) and exercise, this is due to information overload. The present study aims to provide a solution by analysing a large mass of scientific articles using text mining (TM). The purpose was to analyse what is being investigated in the PA health field on young people from primary, secondary and higher education. Titles and abstracts published in the Web of Science (WOS) database were analysed using TM on 24 November 2020, and after removing duplicates, 85,368 remained. The results show 9960 (unique) words and the most frequently used bi-grams and tri-grams. A co-…

2018

This article focuses on Leopoldo Cicognara's role as an advisor of the Italian publisher Giachetti (Prato). After a brief analysis of three key publications (Cicognara's history of sculpture; Séroux d'Agincourt's history of medieval and early-modern Art; Winckelmann's history of ancient art), the authors discuss the role of censorship and its consequences for nineteenth-century art books. The documentary appendix includes a complete transcription of all reports by the Florentine censor p. Mauro Bernardini.

Einstein's Washington Manuscript on Unified Field Theory

2020

In this note, we point attention to and briefly discuss a curious manuscript of Einstein, composed in 1938 and entitled "Unified Field Theory," the only such writing, published or unpublished, carrying this title without any further specification. Apparently never intended for publication, the manuscript sheds light both on Einstein's modus operandi as well as on the public role of Einstein's later work on a unified field theory of gravitation and electromagnetism.

Adolphe Gubler y el Journal de Thérapeutique (1874-1883)

1993

2020

Abstract The article discusses the various German Shakespeare editions produced by the Deutsche Shakespeare-Gesellschaft (German Shakespeare Society) between its foundation in April 1864 and the end of the 19th century. The society’s eclectic editorial output ranged from a critical edition in 12 volumes (1867–1871), through multi-volume editions for the theatre and for German families (1870–1878), to a cheap one-volume edition (1891). All these editions were based on the Shakespeare translations of August Wilhelm Schlegel and Ludwig Tieck and his circle (Dorothea Tieck and Wolf Heinrich Friedrich Karl Graf von Baudissin), published by the Reimer Publishing House in Leipzig. The editors corr…

Reforma sexual, control de natalidad, naturismo y pacifismo. La cultura libertaria trasatlántica en las décadas de 1920 y 1930: Estudios. Revista Ecl…

2019

The editors and main collaborators to the influential Spanish libertarian magazine Estudios (Valencia, 1928-1937) showed a permanent interest in connecting the magazine with the main networks of global anarchism in the interwar years, and also with contemporary international campaigns in defense of birth control, eugenics, sexual reform, naturism or pacifism. As its predecessor did—the magazine Generacion Consciente (1923-1928)—, Estudios was linked to well-known militants, writers, scientists and propagandists in general of those ideas and practices in Europe and America. Estudios built networks using the magazine itself, its personal contacts with those individuals, and also an active boo…
