State-of-the-art modern microprocessor and domain-specific accelerator designs are dominated by data-paths composed of regular structures, also known as bit-slices. Random logic placement and routing techniques may not result in an optimal layout for these data-path-dominated designs. As a result, implementation tools such as Cadence’s Innovus include a Structured Data-Path (SDP) feature that allows data-path placement to be completely customized by constraining the placement engine. Extended constrained deformations: a new sculpturing tool

Modelling tools tend to virtual sculpturing, in which a basic object is deformed by user supplied actions. The model we present aims to be generic: whatever the geometric description of the object, we can deform it to satisfy location constraints. Our model deforms the whole space, the image of a point is a blend of deformation functions with a projection matrix which allows the satisfaction of the constraints. The user can define the extent of the deformation (i.e. the part of the object to be deformed), the shape of the deformation function to create profiles and the displacement of the constraint points to be satisfied.

High Precision Conservative Surface Mesh Generation for Swept Volumes

We present a novel, efficient, and flexible scheme to generate a high-quality mesh that approximates the outer boundary of a swept volume. Our approach comes with two guarantees. First, the approximation is conservative, i.e., the swept volume is enclosed by the generated mesh. Second, the one-sided Hausdorff distance of the generated mesh to the swept volume is upper bounded by a user defined tolerance. Exploiting this tolerance the algorithm generates a mesh that is adapted to the local complexity of the swept volume boundary, keeping the overall output complexity remarkably low. In this paper, two Discrete Displacement Cylinders (DDCs) are used to drive the boom of a knuckle boom crane. DDCs operate by connecting one of several available pressure levels to each chamber in order to produce different forces. A trade-off exists with such systems, between the accuracy of tracking and energy dissipation due to switching. A popular way to approach this problem is a Force Shifting Algorithm (FSA). However, in this paper, the trade-off is managed by use of a Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm. Dynamic and static computer-guided surgery using the double-factor technique for completely edentulous patients: A dental technique.

A novel computer-assisted surgery (CAS) technique that merges dynamic and static CAS approaches to treat completely edentulous patients with dental implants is described. Radiographic and surgical stents are designed with specific fiducial markers that are recognized by the static and dynamic CAS software program. During the surgical procedure, implants are placed following the static surgical guide and the indications from the dynamic navigation system. This technique combines the advantages of static and dynamic CAS approaches to allow accurate and predictable minimally invasive implant placement.

Massive Internet of Things (mIoT) is an important use case of 5G. The main challenge for mIoT is the huge amount of uplink traffic as it dramatically overloads the radio access network (RAN). To mitigate this shortcoming, a new RAN technology has been suggested, where small cells are used for interconnecting different devices to the network.
