El objetivo de esta tesis es el de aclarar suficientemente un aspecto muy poco explorado por los investigadores: los reflejos de la Guerra Civil Española en Brasil. El origen de la tesis partió del presupuesto de que esos reflejos fueron mucho más intensos de lo que se cree, agrandados por el fuerte conflicto abierto entre los sectores de la derecha y de la izquierda brasileñas en los años 30. Por ello, sería contraproducente creer que esos grupos se mantuvieron absolutamente indiferentes ante un conflicto que era visto como la encarnación de las luchas entre socialismo y fascismo. El presente artículo analiza la evolución de la II República Española desde su proclamación hasta el 18 de julio de 1936 desde el punto de vista de los documentos diplomáticos y los principales periódicos estadounidenses. En medio de la gran depresión de los años 30 y los primeros ensayos del New Deal, los diplomáticos estadounidenses pasan del miedo al comunismo de la administración de Herbert Hoover a realzar la evolución democrática y no centralista de la República Española en contraste con el panorama europeo, durante la administración de Franklin D. Roosevelt. Sin embargo desde octubre de 1934 aumentan sus temores a un golpe de Estado y una guerra civil subsiguiente. (A)

This paper analyzes the use of the preposition in that in Ukrainian and Russian can assume the form v or na. In the 20th century the use of both prepositions has assumed political meanings which has diversified the semantics of the expressions na Ukraine and v Ukraine (in Ukraine) and correlates. We aim to show the evolution of meaning of these prepositions, to explain the use of them in Ukrainian and Russian publicist and diplomatic texts, to demonstrate how scholars and publicists motivate the use of v and na and to highlight correlate problems.

Classical Archeology Clashing with the World of Diplomacy: the Case of Salomon Reinach in 1881 Studies on the ties between archeology and diplomacy focus mostly on the way a few individuals reconciled a double career and realized the ideal of a hybrid figure: the diplomat as archeologist. Knowledge exchange through science diplomacy to assist disaster risk reduction

Abstract This paper analyses science diplomacy efforts to reduce disaster risks and proposes establishing national knowledge exchange centers (KECs) to help individual states adhere to their Sendai Framework goals. KECs are considered to be interconnected globally and work together to promote resilience efforts by facilitating sharing of information and strategies in risk monitoring, assessment, and ultimately reduction across the globe.
