A Bis(tridentate)cobalt Polypyridine Complex as Mediator in Dye‐Sensitized Solar Cells

2015

Dye-sensitized solar cells equipped with cationic and neutral RuII-based sensitizers [Ru(ddpd){tpy(COOH)3}]2+ [12+; ddpd = N,N′-dimethyl-N,N′-di(pyridin-2-yl)pyridin-2,6-diamine, tpy(COOH)3 = 2,2″6′,2″-terpyridine-4,4′,4″-tricarboxylic acid] and [Ru(ddpd){tpy(COOH)(COO)2}] (2) with and without the coadsorbent chenodeoxycholic acid were constructed with I3–/I– or the CoIII/II-based redox mediators [Co(bpy)3]3+/2+ (33+/2+; bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) and [Co(ddpd)2]3+/2+ (43+/2+) in the presence of LiClO4 and 4-tert-butylpyridine. The best photovoltaic performance was achieved by using the 43+/2+ shuttle and the neutral sensitizer 2 without coadsorbent. The higher short-circuit photocurrent densit…

A heteroleptic bis(tridentate)ruthenium(II) polypyridine complex with improved photophysical properties and integrated functionalizability.

2010

The synthesis and photophysical properties of a ruthenium(II) complex bearing an electron-accepting 2,2';6',2''-terpyridine ligand and an electron-donating N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-dipyridin-2-ylpyridine-2,6-diamine (ddpd) ligand are presented. The heteroleptic complex is easily prepared isomerically pure and features intense low-energy metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) absorption bands and intense room temperature (3)MLCT emission with a long (3)MLCT lifetime. The favorable photophysical properties are due to the strong ligand field imposed by the ddpd ligand.

Polypyrrole–palladium nanoparticles composite as efficient catalyst for Suzuki–Miyaura coupling

2012

International audience; Synthesis of a new hybrid material (Pd/PPy) composed of polypyrrole globules with uniformly incorporated Pd nanoparticles via direct redox reaction between pyrrole and Pd(NH3)(4)Cl-2 in water has been recently reported (V.A. Zinovyeva, M.A.Vorotyntsev, I. Bezverkhyy, D. Chaumont, J.-C. Hierso, Adv. Funct. Mater. 21 (2011) 1064-1075). In the actual study, this procedure has been extended to synthesize a series of Pd/PPy powders with variable palladium content and morphological parameters. Depending on the monomer-to-oxidant ratio in reaction mixture, average diameters of Pd and PPy particles may change in the ranges of 1.25-1.45 and 27-62 nm, respectively, the Pd conc…

Pragmatic Diabetes Management in Nursing Homes: Individual Care Plan

2013

Although the management of diabetes as a simple entity has been extensively developed, there is a dearth of evidence in elderly, frail patients with multiple comorbidities and polymedication. This population represents a large proportion of the residents of nursing homes (NHs). As a multidisciplinary group of French experts (geriatricians, endocrinologists, diabetologists, and general practitioners) with practical experience in this area, which is growing in magnitude throughout the world, we convened to compile pragmatic, simple advice on the management of elderly, frail diabetic patients. Given demands on NH personnel (manager, medical coordinator, nurses, and, at the front line of care p…

Technique of transanal endoscopic microsurgery.

1988

Sessile adenomas are predominantly localized in the rectum and lower sigma. Surgical removal is indicated but often implies an invasive surgical procedure. Using conventional transanal surgical techniques, only the lower rectum can be reached and there are high rates of recurrence. The new technique combines an endoscopic view of the rectum under gas insufflation via a stereoscopic telescope with conventional surgical preparation and suturing. Adenomas can be excised using the mucosectomy technique or full-thickness-excision, whereas carcinomas should be excised using full-thickness excision with a sufficient border of healthy mucosa. In carcinomas of the sacral cavity, we remove the retror…

Modulation of NMDA receptor function by cyclic AMP in cerebellar neurones in culture

2004

The signal transduction pathways involved in NMDA receptor modulation by other receptors remain unclear. cAMP could be involved in this modulation. The aim of this work was to analyse the contribution of cAMP to NMDA receptor modulation in cerebellar neurones in culture. Forskolin increases cAMP and results in increased intracellular calcium and cGMP that are prevented by blocking NMDA receptors. Similar effects were induced by two cAMP analogues, indicating that cAMP leads to NMDA receptor activation. It has been reported that phosphorylation of Ser897 of the NR1 subunit of NMDA receptors by cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) activates the receptors. Forskolin increases Ser897 phosphoryla…

Sacred Music Production and Circulation in Sixteenth-Century Palermo: The Inventories of Giovanni Santoro (1550) and Luis Ruiz (1595)

2016

Physico-chemical state influences in vitro release profile of curcumin from pectin beads

2014

International audience; Curcumin is a polyphenolic compound with diverse effects interesting to develop health benefit products but its formulation in functional foods or in food supplement is hampered by its poor water solubility and susceptibility to alkaline conditions, light, oxidation and heat. Encapsulation of curcumin could be a mean to overcome these difficulties. In this paper, curcumin was encapsulated by ionotropic gelation method in low methoxyl pectin beads associated with different surfactants: Solutol®, Transcutol® and sodium caseinate. After encapsulation, physico-chemical properties of encapsulated curcumin such as its solubility, physical state, tautomeric forms and encaps…

The effect of complementary irrigation on fruit growth, ripening pattern and oil characteristics of olive (Olea europaea L.) cv. Carolea

1996

SummaryComplementary irrigation, 80 mm, distributed only during the third stage of fruit development, delayed ripening time and increased fruit size and oil content for fruits of the olive cv. Carolea. Prolonged water deficit reduced fruit growth, oil accumulation rate, K content of the fruit and enhanced ripening and pre-harvest fruit drop. Harvest time affected oil characteristics more than the water availability. Fatty acid composition was not affected by the water regime but polyphenol content increased and alcohol content decreased in the oil produced by irrigated trees.
