Duodenal contractile activity in dystrophic (mdx) mice: reduction of nitric oxide influence.

The present study was undertaken to analyse duodenal contractility in adult dystrophic (mdx) mice. The spontaneous changes of the isometric tension and the responses of longitudinal duodenal muscle to nonadrenergic, noncholinergic (NANC) nerve stimulation and to exogenous drugs were compared between normal and mdx mice. Duodenal segments from mdx mice displayed spontaneous contractions with higher frequency than normals. N omega-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) increased the frequency of contractions in normals without affecting that in mdx mice. To identify the cause of rupture of hand tendons in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, we studied the underlying ultrastructural changes of the collagenous fibril systems. Samples of the flexor digitorum superficialis (n = 12) and the extensor digitorum communis (n = 20) were taken during tenosynovectomy. Tendons dissected at necropsy (n = 30) served as controls. Specimens were analysed by transmission and scanning electron microscopy. Interfibrillar dysplastic fibrils, "Luse bodies", and intracellular collagen were found in rheumatoid tissues. This study evaluated side-to-side differences in tibial mineral mass and geometry in women with previous hip fracture sustained on average 3.5 years earlier. Both tibial mineral mass and geometry were found to be reduced in the fractured leg. The paper investigates some solutions designed by the author, as structural consulting engineer of the municipal administration of Palermo, to build a footbridge over Viale Regione Siciliana, in the section between Via Perpignano and Viale Leonardo Da Vinci. The pedestrian underpass put in place in the 1990s, during the construction of the new road, was considered to be unsatisfactory for pedestrian safety due to possible robberies. In the last few years the administration has been oriented towards the creation of footbridges, designed to be accessible to the differently abled too. Šajā darbā tiek pētīti divi Alq3 atvasinājumi un PVK kombinācijā ar četriem DCM atvasinājumiem. Pētītie savienojumi ar rotējošā diska metodi no šķīduma var veidot amorfas plānas kārtiņas. Tika izmērītas šādas paraugu optiskās īpašības: absorbcijas un emisijas spektri, fotoluminescences kinētika un kvantu iznākums. Labākajām sistēmām tika veikti pastiprinātas spontānās emisijas (ASE) mērījumi. Plāno kārtiņu absorbcijas un emisijas mērījumi liecina, ka FRET starp Alq3 un DCM molekulām ir iespējama Alq3 emisijas spektra un DCM absorbcijas spektra pārklāšanās dēļ. Pasaulē ir veikti daudzi pētījumi, cenšoties atrast jaunus organiskos savienojumus ar labākām optiskajām īpašībām, lai radītu gaismas pastiprinātājus. Objetivo: El objetivo principal fue determinar con qué técnica de sutura (anudado simple o doble), y con qué tipo de sutura (sintética o seda), se presentaban menos exposiciones de los tornillos de cierre de los implantes dentales tras las cirugías. Metodología: Se realizó un estudio experimental para investigar si se pueden prevenir y/o eliminar las exposiciones prematuras con un protocolo quirúrgico de colocación de implantes que incluya unas técnicas y unos materiales de sutura que el clínico pueda utilizar de forma habitual. Presentamos en este trabajo nuestra experiencia acumulada en el tratamiento quirúrgico del neumotórax espontáneo primario mediante cirugía videotoracoscópica. Se ha elegido el neumotórax por tratarse de la patología benigna que, además de frecuente, ha sido la primera en beneficiarse de la VATS. Durante un periodo de dieciséis años (entre junio de 1994 y febrero de 2010) se realizaron 238 intervenciones por neumotórax espontáneo primario mediante VATS en 216 pacientes; en 115 procedimientos se escogió la abrasión pleural como método de pleurodesis, mientras que en 123 casos se llevó a cabo una técnica mixta consistente en pleurectomía apical combinada con abrasión del resto de la pleura par…
