A Fuzzy One Class Classifier for Multi Layer Model

The paper describes an application of a fuzzy one-class classifier (FOC ) for the identification of different signal patterns embedded in a noise structured background. The classification phase is applied after a preprocessing phase based on a Multi Layer Model (MLM ) that provides a preliminary signal segmentation in an interval feature space. The FOC has been tested on synthetic and real microarray data in the specific problem of DNA nucleosome and linker regions identification. Results have shown, in both cases, a good recognition rate.

The paper illustrates the implementation and semantic enhancement of a domain-oriented Question-Answering system based on a pattern-matching chat bot technology, developed within an industrial project, named FRASI. The main difficulty in building a KB for a chat bot is to handwrite all possible question-answer pairs that constitute the KB. In ancient Sicilian, basic spatial relations are encoded by means of prepositional phrases introduced by ‘da’ and ‘di’ (origin), ‘a’, ‘in’ and ‘intra’ (location and direction), ‘per/pir/pri’ (path). This contribution offers a description of these encoding means based on the examination of a corpus of Sicialian texts of the 14th to 16th centuries. The analysis is carried out against a cognitive grammar theoretical background and takes into account the existing studies on spatial relations in the world languages. Alteration of the structural properties of inulin gels

Abstract In this work, inulin particle gels, prepared with a type of long chain inulin, were examined in terms of their structural properties and mechanical response, depending on the applied shear rates and temperature during gel preparation. The results are interpreted on the basis of a particle gel model, which takes into account the varying gel structure, depending on the sample preparation parameters. X-ray measurements of the inulin powder, used for the experiments, revealed a mostly amorphous powder. The temperature profiles for the sample preparation, chosen from 25 °C to 60 °C with constant stirring at 600 rpm, yielded viscoelastic particle gels with decreasing hardness. By applica…
