From minijet saturation to global observables in A + A collisions at the LHC and RHIC
2014
We review the recent results from the computation of saturated next-to-leading order perturbative QCD minijet intial conditions combined with viscous hydrodynamical evolution of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions at the LHC and RHIC. Comparison with experimental data is shown.
Hard dihadron correlations in heavy-ion collisions at energies available at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and CERN Large Hadron Collider
2011
High transverse momentum (${P}_{T}$) processes are considered to be an important tool to probe and understand the medium produced in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions via the interaction of hard, perturbatively produced partons with the medium. In this context, triggered hard dihadron correlations constitute a class of observables set between hard single inclusive hadrons (dominated by the leading jet fragments) and fully reconstructed jets; while they probe some features of the perturbative QCD evolution of a parton shower in the medium, they do not suffer from the problem of finding a suitable separation between soft hadrons coming from perturbative jets and soft hadrons coming from …
Measurement of the ratio of inclusive cross sectionsσ(pp¯→Z+2b jets /σ(pp¯→Z+2 jets)inpp¯collisions ats=1.96 TeV
2015
In this study, we measure the ratio of cross sections, σ(pp¯ → Z + 2 b jets)/σ(pp¯ → Z + 2 jets), for associated production of a Z boson with at least two jets with transverse momentum pjetT > 20 GeV and pseudorapidity |ηjet| < 2.5. This measurement uses data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb–1 collected by the D0 experiment in Run II of Fermilab’s Tevatron pp¯ Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The measured integrated ratio of 0.0236 ± 0.0032(stat) ± 0.0035(syst) is in agreement with predictions from next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD and the Monte Carlo event generators PYTHIA and ALPGEN.
Measurement of the differential γ+c-jet cross section and the ratio of differential γ+c and γ+b cross sections in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV
2013
We present measurements of the differential cross section $d\sigma/dp_{T}^{\gamma}$ for the associated production of a $c$-quark jet and an isolated photon with rapidity $|y^{\gamma}| 15$ GeV. The cross section ratios $\sigma(\gamma+c)/\sigma(\gamma+b)$ as a function of $p_{T}^{\gamma}$ are also presented. The results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.7 fb$^{-1}$ recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ Collider at $\sqrt{s}=$1.96 TeV. The obtained results are compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations using various parton distribution functions, to predictions based on the $k_{T}$-factorization approach, and to pr…
Measurement of the combined rapidity and pT dependence of dijet azimuthal decorrelations in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV
2013
We present the first combined measurement of the rapidity and transverse momentum dependence of dijet azimuthal decorrelations, using the recently proposed quantity R-Delta phi. The variable R-Delta phi measures the fraction of the inclusive dijet events in which the azimuthal separation of the two jets with the highest transverse momenta is less than a specified value of the parameter Delta phi(max). The quantity R-Delta phi is measured in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, as a function of the dijet rapidity interval, the total scalar transverse momentum, and Delta phi(max). The measurement uses an event sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.7 fb(-1) collected…
Chiral corrections to the 1 −+ exotic meson mass
2016
We first construct the effective chiral Lagrangians for the $1^{-+}$ exotic mesons. With the infrared regularization scheme, we derive the one-loop infrared singular chiral corrections to the $\pi_1(1600)$ mass explicitly. We investigate the variation of the different chiral corrections with the pion mass under two schemes. Hopefully, the explicit non-analytical chiral structures will be helpful to the chiral extrapolation of the lattice data from the dynamical lattice QCD simulation of either the exotic light hybrid meson or tetraquark state.
Measurement of the production cross section forZ/γ*in association with jets inppcollisions ats=7 TeVwith the ATLAS detector
2012
Results are presented on the production of jets of particles in association with a Z/gamma* boson, in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector. The analysis includes the full 2010 data set, collected with a low rate of multiple proton-proton collisions in the accelerator, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1). Inclusive jet cross sections in Z/gamma* events, with Z/gamma* decaying into electron or muon pairs, are measured for jets with transverse momentum p(T) > 30 GeV and jet rapidity vertical bar y vertical bar < 4.4. The measurements are compared to next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations, and to predictions from different Monte Carl…
Centrality dependence of multiplicities in ultrarelativistic nuclear collisions
2000
We compute the centrality dependence of multiplicities of particles produced in ultrarelativistic nuclear collisions at various energies and atomic numbers. The computation is carried out in perturbative QCD with saturated densities of produced gluons and by including effects of nuclear geometry. Numbers are given for Au+Au collisions at RHIC energies.
Improved $K_{e3}$ radiative corrections sharpen the $K_{\mu 2}$--$K_{l3}$ discrepancy
2021
The measurements of $V_{us}$ in leptonic $(K_{\mu 2})$ and semileptonic $(K_{l3})$ kaon decays exhibit a $3\sigma$ disagreement, which could originate either from physics beyond the Standard Model or some large unidentified Standard Model systematic effects. Clarifying this issue requires a careful examination of all existing Standard Model inputs. Making use of a newly-proposed computational framework and the most recent lattice QCD results, we perform a comprehensive re-analysis of the electroweak radiative corrections to the $K_{e3}$ decay rates that achieves an unprecedented level of precision of $10^{-4}$, which improves the current best results by almost an order of magnitude. No larg…
Dependence of hadron spectra on decoupling temperature and resonance contributions
2003
Using equilibrium hydrodynamics with initial conditions for the energy and net baryon number densities from the perturbative QCD + saturation model, a good simultaneous description of the measured pion, kaon and (anti)proton spectra in central Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt s=130 A$GeV is found with a single decoupling temperature $\Tdec=150...160$ MeV. The interplay between the resonance content of the EoS and the development of the transverse flow leads to inverse slopes and $$ of hadrons which increase with decreasing $\Tdec$. The origin of this result is discussed.
