2016

Since 2012, the French project TalentCampus has set up training sessions to help people to develop their soft skills. TalentCampus was created in 2012 by a cluster of universities and higher education institutions, with a national agency for PhD support (ABG Intelli’agence). It was awarded funding through a national research call (IDEFI – french government investment for the future scheme). The aim of TalentCampus is to increase excellence in higher education by exploring the development of soft skills. However, the training sessions are not only for higher education students. Indeed, the idea is for participants to discover themselves through exchanges with people from many different backg…

Effect of the reference solution in the measurement of ion activity coefficients using cells with transference at T=298.15K

2010

Abstract This work reports individual activity coefficients of ions at T = 298.15 K in aqueous solutions obtained from voltage values of the respective half-cell ion-selective-electrode and a single-junction Ag–AgCl reference electrode, filled with different reference solutions at different concentrations. For potassium and chloride ions in KCl aqueous solutions, reference solutions of KCl, NaCl, or CsCl were used. For sodium and chloride ions in aqueous NaCl solutions, reference solutions of CsCl were used. Experimental runs were performed at molalities (1, 2, and 3) m of the reference solution. The concentration of the sample solution was increased, starting from around 1 · 10−3 m, up to …

La interpretación cinematográfica como invariante genérica

2002

Methods of Ascertainment of Personal Damage in Germany

2016

The chapter illustrates the historical, judicial and juridical framework of personal injury assessment and compensation in Germany, describing the expert’s qualification and competences and detailing the ascertainment methodology and criteria of evaluation utilised for identifying, describing and estimating any personal injury, its temporary and permanent consequences and the causal value/link between the event and the injury and between the injury and the impairment/disability.

The value of integrative risk management for insurance products with guarantees

2001

Insurance liabilities are converging with capital markets products (e.g. derivatives and securitizations), thereby increasing the demand for integrated asset and liability management strategies. This article compares the value-added by an integrative approach-based on scenario optimization modelling-relative to traditional risk management methods. The authors present some examples of products offered by the insurance industry in Italy, and apply the results of the analysis to the design of competitive insurance policies. © Emerald Backfiles 2007.

Abnormal Marker Expression in Acute Leukemia (AL) Characterized by Monoclonal Antibodies and Flow Cytometry

1987

The application of refined immunologic and enzymatic markers to conventional morphologic and cytochemical techniques has revealed an unexpected heterogeneitiy in acute leukemia (AL). Since the development of monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) to lineage specific differentiation markers, there have been several reports of AL patients whose blast cells represent relatively homogeneous populations with phenotypic features of more than one cell line [1–5] or are characterized by the coexistence of separate cell populations each demonstrating either lymphoid or myeloid features [6–10].

2013

This study presents a personality evaluation instrument adapted to the vocational setting: the Adaptive Vocational Personality Questionnaire (AVPQ). The questionnaire was developed and tested in a sample of 2160 university students in the final years of their degree programs. The purpose of the study is to validate the questionnaire, providing evidence about its internal structure and its usefulness for predicting scores on a criterion scale. A confirmatory factor analysis combined with a cross-validation design was used: the exploratory sample (n = 879) helped to identify the model with the factorial structure that best fit the relations among the items. As expected, this model had two rel…
