Supermarkets and hypermarkets require a huge amount of energy to maintain chilled and frozen food in product display cases and cold storage rooms and thermal comfort in the whole building. Application of remote experiments in a secondary school using MOOC approach

This paper presents first attempt to incorporate remote and virtual experiments in MOOC environment for the secondary school instruction. In case study the VISIR+ remote experiment of the WebLab-Deusto was used. The basic topic of physics “Resistors in series” was suggested for the mentioned above experiment. The open edX platform was employed to build the MOOC for the school lesson — we named it ‘micro-MOOC’. The results could be helpful for secondary school sector representatives, education instructors, parents and policy makers to respond to current and future education needs.

Šī darba mērķis ir pētīt skolēnu motivāciju, mācoties angļu valodu, un noteikt faktorus, kas vidusskolas skolēnus motivē mācīties angļu valodu. Darbā tiek pētīts, cik lielā mērā angļu valodas mācīšanās motivāciju ietekmē tādi faktori kā dzimums, valodas mācību ilgums kā arī zināšanu līmenis. Teorētiskajā daļā apskatītas galvenās motivācijas teorijas, kuru izpratne ir nepieciešama, lai saprastu galvenos motivācijas konceptus otrās valodas apguvē. Balstoties uz informāciju, kas iegūta aptaujājot vidusskolas skolēnus, praktiskajā daļā izskaidroti un interpretēti faktori, kuri visvairāk ietekmē skolēnu motivāciju mācīties angļu valodu.

River restoration aims to apply environmentally-friendly structures for bank protection in meandering rivers to restore their natural habitat. Enhanced Permeable Groin (EPG) is a novel river restoration technique that can improve the fish habitat environment in a river system by creating a series of eco-friendly scour pools. This study reports the results of two groups of 3D velocity measurements in a 180-degree channel bend in cases with and without an EPG for clear water conditions to characterize the mechanisms leading to the primary stages of the scouring phenomenon. En 1989 se conformó en Valencia (España) el grupo de innovación e investigación pedagógica Gea-Clío, centrado en torno a la didáctica de la geografía y la historia desde una perspectiva progresista y crítica. Un año después (en 1990) se inició en España una reforma educativa de gran calado que extendió la obligatoriedad de la escolarización hasta los 16 años. La implementación de dicha reforma conllevó la aparición de serios problemas en el sistema educativo español. Balancing ‘flexibility’ and ‘employability’: The changing role of general studies in the Finnish and Swedish VET curricula of the 1990s and 2010s

This article analyses and compares the evolving role of general subjects in the curricula of initial upper secondary vocational education and training (VET) in Finland and Sweden during the 1990s and 2010s. The research illustrates how Bernstein’s concept of ‘pedagogic code’ supports comparative studies on principles guiding changes to curricula and how the role of general studies in VET has been redefined. The findings show that while a principle of ‘market relevance’ has been central to VET over the decades since the 1990s, it has been subject to varying interpretations. Ils sont regroupés en trois ensembles et l'objet traité dans chaque ensemble est particulier : l'orientation au collège pour le premier, l'admission et l'orientation dans l'enseignement supérieur pour le second, les politiques d'orientation pour le troisième. Chaque ensemble est en outre organisé de telle sorte que la diversité économique, politique et scolaire initiale soit peut ou prou respectée au sein de chacun d'eux.
