This study deals with the sceptical arguments by one of the most important figures in the philosophical Sufi tradition (the Akbarian school) and the foremost disciple of Ibn ʿArabī, Ṣadr al‐Dīn al‐Qūnawī. Though not a sceptic in the strict sense, Qūnawī employs sceptical arguments from relativity of rational knowledge and disagreement among philosophers to prove inefficacy of reason and rational procedures of knowledge in terms of achieving certain knowledge of metaphysical matters, namely of God and the ultimate principles of things. The Village Action Association of Finland (SYTY) organizes the Village of the Year competition annually to award active rural communities. The competition has taken place since 1985, but after the village action movement was integrated into Finnish rural policy networks in the 1990s, it also became a part of rural policy instruments. The competition can be considered a governing technique that constructs norms and an ideal model for rural communities to pursue. Political community resilience in declining rural areas in Finland

Abstract In this article, we study how declining rural communities build political resilience in Finland. Community resilience is an adaptive process through which rural communities try to maintain their viability in changed circumstances. This process does not entail a submissive attitude, but rather active agency and an effort to influence matters concerning the community’s well-being. We focus on the political dimension of resilience by identifying different local tactics that rural communities adopt to promote their own development following municipal mergers. L’Elsässischer Turnerbund, devenue en 1918 l’Avant-garde du Rhin, avait pour principe de faire des sportifs de bons catholiques et de bons patriotes. Vegetation series reflect the environmental characteristics of the landscape, but also the anthropic impact, one of the exogenous forces that most profoundly affects the landscape formation process. Un certain nombre de coopérations s’établissent plus ou moins spontanément de part et d’autre de la frontière franco-suisse dans l’Arc jurassien. En général de petite taille, visibles ou non aux échelles locales, elles présentent, selon nous, un grand intérêt dans le cadre de la mise en place d’un sentiment communautaire dans l’Arc jurassien. En effet, le devenir de cet espace transfrontalier doit s’ancrer dans le partage des valeurs des deux pays frontaliers afin d’endiguer les risques de repli identitaire.
