Monitoring a meat-free pledge with smartphones:An experimental study

Pledges are a popular strategy to encourage meat reduction, though experimental studies of their efficacy are lacking. Three-hundred and twenty-five participants from three different countries (UK, Germany, Australia) were randomly assigned to pledge 28 days meat-free or not, and their behavior was tracked via smartphones. Participants answered daily surveys regarding their eating behavior, meat cravings, and shared photos of their meals. Baseline data was collected prior to the pledge, after the 28 days, and one-month post-intervention. Zusammenfassung Der folgende Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit Sprechern des Hunsrückischen in Brasilien und deren Gebrauch des Schriftdeutschen im 20. Jahrhundert. Basis der Analyse ist ein Korpus von Privatbriefen, die während der ersten Diktatur geschrieben wurden. Der Fokus der Analyse ist die Frage nach einer uniformen Schriftnorm für diese Sprechergruppe, deren Muttersprache fast ausschließlich mündlich verwendet wurde. Es wird argumentiert, dass der Estado Novo nicht die einzige Ursache für den Dachsprachenwechsel vom Deutschen zum Portugiesischen war, jedoch entscheidend dazu beigetragen hat, dass die Etablierung einer brasilianischen Schriftnorm des Deutschen endgültig verhindert wurde.…

AbstractSince mid-March 2020 the Federal and state governments in Germany agreed on comprehensive public health measures to curb the spread of SARS-CoV-2 infections leading to the Covid-19 disease. We study the containment effects of these policy interventions on the progression of the pandemic in the first containment phase in spring 2020 before the easing of restrictions may become effective by the end of April. Dans ce travail nous sommes intéressés par le problème de contact unilatéral en dynamique et sans frottement. Nous nous concentrons sur l'évolution en temps de l'impact d'un corps élastique linéaire sur un obstacle rigide, et avons souhaité en particulier étudier comment combiner des schémas en temps comme HHT et prédicteur-correcteur avec un traitement du contact via Nitsche, ce qui n'a jamais été effectué auparavant. Nous présenterons aussi quelques résultats numériques en faisant attention au comportement numérique : stabilité du schéma, conservation ou non de l'énergie et oscillations parasites.
