It has been claimed that spending a lot of time alone makes children vulnerable to many kinds of risk behaviour, such as smoking, use of alcohol and drugs, depression and poor school performance. PCP-DV: An End-to end Admission Control Mechanism for IP Telephony

In this paper we describe a novel endpoint admission control mechanism for IP telephony:the PCP-DV which is characterized by two fundamental features. First, it does not rely on any additional procedure in internal network routers other than the capability to apply different service priority to probing and data packets. Second, the triggering mechanism for the connection admission decision is based on the analysis of the delay variation statistics over the probing flow. Numerical results for an IP telephony traffic scenario prove that 99th delay percentiles not greater than few ms per router are guaranteed even in overload conditions.

Looking back at many proposals appeared on the scene in these years, a fundamental lesson to be learned is that their success or failure is strictly tied to their backward compatibility with existing infrastructures. In this paper, we consider the problem of providing explicit admission control decisions for QoS aware services. An optimized path-selection using airtime metric in OLSR networks: Implementation and testing

Wireless mesh networks used for broadband access may be equipped with multiple Internet gateways. Using airtime metric as the main criterion for path selection is an effective method for achieving load-balancing in such a multi-homed mesh network. In this paper, we describe how the radio-aware path selection using airtime as a metric can be implemented in order to achieve this functionality, based on a modified version of an open source OLSR implementation. The paper presents both the principle of this method, its implementation and the empirical results which focus on testing the airtime metric functionality based on a deployed small-scale test network.

It presents a number of specific types of trolling on the Russian-language Internet in connection with digital literature and the literary practices of various groups of Internet users. In this chapter, we scrutinise the Russian state’s regulation for political purposes of the Russian-language section of the internet or ‘Runet’, as it is often dubbed in Russia. We will focus on those regulative actions which came into force during and after the protest wave in Russia in 2011–2013. Internet and social media played an important role in the mobilisation of these protests that challenged the legitimacy of the ruling elite.
