Incidence of PV module rated power tolerances on PV system energy production

2016

Discussing the electrical energy production of a PV system realized by PV modules with a large range of tolerance for the rated power values is the aim of this paper. In particular, the paper shows how the incidence of tolerance can be significant, in terms of output power reduction, when the PV system works in partial shading condition. For this issue, using a tool developed for this purpose, several simulations have been run, which consider different tolerance values for the module rated power and different shading patterns for the PV array. The authors quantify the peak power values of the different system configurations, showing the importance of the choice of modules with reduced toler…

Skutki tzw. postępowania incydentalnego w słowackim prawie restrukturyzacyjnym

2019

This study is devoted to the analysis of Slovak restructuring law limited to the interpretation of § 124 sec. 6 ZoKR. The provisions of Slovak law in relation to claims reported but not recognized in the restructuring proceedings allow creditors to bring legal action against the debtor, under the so-called incidental action. The effects of the court’s decision issued after conducting such proceedings are set out in § 124 sec. 6 ZoKR. The content of the study presents arguments for the thesis that the term “ne mozno voci dlznikovi vymahat”, as used in § 124 para. 6 ZoKR, carries a substantive effect of the expiry of the claim, but as a result of the court’s recognition of the case in an inci…

Wygaśnięcie roszczenia jako następstwo braku zgłoszenia wierzytelności w słowackim prawie restrukturyzacyjnym

2019

This study is devoted to the analysis of Slovak restructuring law limited to the interpretation of § 120 sec. 1 ZoKR, which introduces a very interesting legal structure. It is not permissible to recover from the debtor – after initiation of Slovak restructuring proceedings –claims arising before the initiation of the proceedings in the other way than in restructuring proceedings. Upon completing the restructuring proceedings and approving the restructuring plan, the regulations preclude the pursuit of claims from the debtor by those creditors who did not submit their claims in the restructuring proceedings, because the debtor’s obligation becomes incomplete. Used in § 120 sec. 1 ZoKR, the …

Performance of an outdoor membrane photobioreactor for resource recovery from anaerobically treated sewage

2018

[EN] The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of a pilot scale membrane photobioreactor (MPBR) for treating the effluent of an anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) system. In particular, new experimental data on microalgae productivity, nutrient recovery, CO2 biofixation and energy recovery potential was obtained under different operating conditions, which would facilitate moving towards cost-effective microalgae cultivation on wastewater. To this aim, a 2.2-m(3) MPBR equipped with two commercial-scale hollow-fibre ultrafiltration membrane modules was operated treating the nutrient-loaded effluent from an AnMBR for sewage treatment. The influence of several design, enviro…

Defect detection in additively manufactured titanium prosthesis by flying laser scanning thermography

2018

Abstract Metal additive manufacturing is nowadays a well-established technology for cutting edge applications in the automotive, aerospace, defense and medical sectors. Since additive metal deposition is basically a welding method, which creates parts by successively adding layers of material, there is a chance for defects like pores, cracks, inclusions and lack of fusion to develop. As a matter of fact, interlayer and intralayer defects are often observed in additive manufactured components. However, if one considers the typical end applications along with the high costs involved in metal additive manufactured components, a “zero defect” target is close to mandatory for this technology. Pl…

Calculations of the variability of ice cloud radiative properties at selected solar wavelengths

2010

This study shows that there is surprising little difference in values of reflectance, absorptance, and transmittance for many of the intermediate-size particle spectra. Parrticle size distributions with mode radii ranging from approximately 50 to 300 microAm, irrespective of particle shape and nearly independent of the choice of size distribution representation, give relatively similar flux values. The very small particle sizes, however, have significantly larger values of reflectance and transmittance with corresponding smaller values of absorptance than do the larger particle sizes. The very large particle modes produce very small values of reflectance and transmittance along with very la…

Cascaded adaptive-mask algorithm for twin-image removal and its application to digital holograms of ice crystals.

2009

An iterative Gerchberg-Saxton-type algorithm with a support constraint for twin-image removal from reconstructed Gabor inline holograms of single plane objects is described. It is applied to simulated holograms and to holograms of ice crystals recorded in the laboratory and in atmospheric clouds in situ. The algorithm is characterized by a distinction between object and background region and an iterative adaption of the object mask. Applying the algorithm to recorded inline holograms of atmospheric objects, the twin-image artifacts are removed successfully, for the first time allowing for a proper access to the in situ phase information on atmospheric ice crystals. It is also demonstrated t…

Correction of systematic spatial noise in push-broom hyperspectral sensors: application to CHRIS/PROBA images

2008

Hyperspectral remote sensing images are affected by different types of noise. In addition to typical random noise, nonperiodic partially deterministic disturbance patterns generally appear in the data. These patterns, which are intrinsic to the image formation process, are characterized by a high degree of spatial and spectral coherence. We present a new technique that faces the problem of removing the spatially coherent noise known as vertical striping, usually found in images acquired by push-broom sensors. The developed methodology is tested on data acquired by the Compact High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (CHRIS) onboard the Project for On-board Autonomy (PROBA) orbital platform, whi…

Impact analysis of MPL and PEM thickness on temperature distribution within PEFC operating at relatively higher temperature

2020

Abstract In Japan, it is recommended to operate Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFC) at temperature around 90 °C for stationary applications during the period from 2020 to 2025. However, the present PEFC is using Nafion polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) and operated within the temperature range from 60 °C to 80 °C. It is important to understand the temperature distribution in a cell of PEFC for improving the performance and to realize the long life span. This study focuses on use of micro porous layer (MPL), which can promote the moisture transfer in order to control the temperature distribution. The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of MPL on temperature distribution at reaction …

In-process heat treatments to improve FS-welded butt joints

2008

Friction-stir welding (FSW) is a relatively new but already well known solid-state welding process whose main advantage with respect to fusion welding processes is the possibility to successfully weld light alloys, traditionally considered difficult to weld or unweldable. Despite the good mechanical performances that can be obtained, there exists the possibility to further improve the joints' effectiveness through post-welding heat treatments that are however time and cost-expensive and, therefore, not best suited for industrial applications. In the present paper, the authors report the results of an experimental campaign, developed on FSW of AA7075-T6 aluminum alloy, aimed to investigate t…
