Viscosity solutions of the Monge-Ampère equation with the right hand side in Lp

We compare various notions of solutions of Monge-Ampère equations with discontinuous functions on the right hand side. Precisely, we show that the weak solutions defined by Trudinger can be obtained by the vanishing viscosity approximation method. Moreover, we investigate existence and uniqueness of Lp-viscosity solutions.

The aggregation of sickle-cell haemoglobin (HbS) is one of the most physiologically important and widely studied macromolecular gelation processes. Both the thermodynamics and kinetics of the process are important in determining the pathological consequences of deoxygenation of the red cells (and both must be understood if a rational strategy is to be developed for pharmacological intervention). Viscosity studies of solutions of water inn-aliphatic alcohols at various temperatures

Viscosity measurements have been made at 25°C on solutions of water inn-propanol, and at 15, 25, 35, and 45°C on solutions of water inn-butanol,n-pentanol, andn-hexanol over the respective solubility ranges. For most of the systems, water decreases the viscosity of the dry alcohols, while for the lower members of the series literature data report an increase in viscosity on addition of water. These results are rationalized in terms of two kinds of interaction between water molecules and alcohols: participation of water molecules in chain formation for the lower alcohols and formation of water-centered complexes for butanol and higher alcohols.
Polyamide/carbonaceous particles nanocomposites fibers: Morphology and performances

In this work, the influence of carbonaceous particles with different sizes and shapes on the morphology and mechanical performances of polyamide (PA)-based fibers was investigated. Graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) are compared with spherical and rod-like carbon fillers such as carbon black (CB) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The increments of the complex viscosity as well as elastic and loss moduli, in the melt state, assessed by rheological analysis, are reduced by modifying polyamide (PA) matrix with nanofillers in a following order: CNTs > GNP > CB. Gluing can be a highly efficient mechanism of prey capture, as it should require less complex sensory–muscular feedback. Whereas it is well known in insects, this mechanism is much less studied in arachnids, except spiders. Soil-dwelling harvestmen (Opiliones, Nemastomatidae) bear drumstick-like glandular hairs (clavate setae) at their pedipalps, which were previously hypothesized to be sticky and used in prey capture. However, clear evidence for this was lacking to date. Convergence of a high-order compact finite difference scheme for a nonlinear Black-Scholes equation

A high-order compact finite difference scheme for a fully nonlinear parabolic differential equation is analyzed. The equation arises in the modeling of option prices in financial markets with transaction costs. It is shown that the finite difference solution converges locally uniformly to the unique viscosity solution of the continuous equation. The proof is based on a careful study of the discretization matrices and on an abstract convergence result due to Barles and Souganides.
Designing robust immediate release tablet formulations avoiding food effects for BCS class 3 drugs

Abstract Food induced viscosity in the gastrointestinal tract is reported to reduce the bioavailability of tablets containing BCS class 3 drugs, mainly by retarding their disintegration and dissolution of the active pharmaceutical ingredient. The role of formulation factors in minimizing this negative food effect is largely unknown. Combinations of disintegrants were studied together with soluble and insoluble fillers and trospium chloride as model drug substance. A first estimate of $\eta/s$ in Au+Au reactions at E$_{\rm lab}=1.23$ $A$GeV

The HADES experiment at GSI has recently provided data on the flow coefficients $v_1,...,v_4$ for protons in Au+Au reactions at $E_{\rm lab} = 1.23$~$A$GeV (or $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=2.4$ GeV). This data allows to estimate the shear viscosity over entropy ratio, $\eta/s$ at low energies via a coarse graining analysis of the UrQMD transport simulations of the flow harmonics in comparison to the experimental data. By this we can provide for the first time an estimate of $\eta/s\approx0.65\pm0.15$ (or $(8\pm2)\,(4\pi)^{-1}$) at such low energies.
Pinning down QCD-matter shear viscosity in A + A collisions via EbyE fluctuations using pQCD + saturation + hydrodynamics

We compute the initial energy densities produced in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions from NLO perturbative QCD using a saturation conjecture to control soft particle production, and describe the subsequent space-time evolution of the system with hydrodynamics, event by event. The resulting centrality dependence of the low-$p_T$ observables from this pQCD + saturation + hydro ("EKRT") framework are then compared simultaneously to the LHC and RHIC measurements. With such an analysis we can test the initial state calculation, and constrain the temperature dependence of the shear viscosity-to-entropy ratio $\eta/s$ of QCD matter.
