ABSTRACT: The society of the ancient regime recreated the distinctive, justifying, and propagandistic rites of power that were performed at court in cities far away from it. These rites were led by the holders of civil and religious power, and even utilized formulas that would not have been permitted, because they copied the royal ones. The rituals surrounding death form part of these practices, with first-class artistic derivations, including ephemeral architecture, emblematics and chalcography, or intaglio. La mostra dal titolo "Lo studio Basile crocevia di arti e mestieri" apre al grande pubblico e anche agli specialisti la parte più privata dell'Archivio Basile, esibendo documenti, diplomi, onorificenze, strumenti di lavoro relativi all'attività di tre generazioni di professionisti. Tra gli oggetti mostrati: compassi, matite, agende, quaderni, fogli di lavoro e un prezioso disegno con le macchine di cantiere ad opera di Giovan Battista Filippo Basile. Dello stesso autore si esibisce un'inedita planimetria sulla sistemazione della piazza su cui avrebbe insistito il teatro Massimo, comprensiva di un rilievo dello stato di fatto, prima dei lavori di demolizione.

1. Breve descrizione dell’oggetto di studio Il concorso del Palazzo di Giustizia di Roma si svolge in quattro fasi svolte tra il 1884 e il 1887. Il progetto per il primo concorso, del 1884, redatto dall’allora giovanissimo Ernesto Basile (Palermo 1857-1932), rivela una grande perizia progettuale che trasforma il complesso programma funzionale in un austero edificio in stile neofiorentino. I disegni originari dell’opera, non realizzata, conservati presso la Dotazione Basile del Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università di Palermo, sono stati oggetto di studio propedeutico alle fasi di analisi, interpretazione e ricostruzione congetturale del modello digitale. 2. Brief description of the object of study The competition of the Palace of Justice in Rome takes place in four phases between 1884 and 1887. The project for the first competition in 1884 drawn up by the then very young Ernesto Basile (Palermo 1857-1932) reveals a great deal of design expertise that transforms the complex functional program into an austere building in neo-florentine style. The original drawings of the building not realized kept in the Basile Endowment of the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo have been the subject of preliminary study to the phases of analysis interpretation and conceptual reconstruction of the digital model. 2. The article deals with the first burial in the tomb crypt built under the altar of the natio polona in the Basilica of St. Anthony in Padua. Stanisław Miński, a Polish state dignitary and diplomat who was passing through Padua on his way from Naples, was the one buried here. The tombstone, removed only in the first half of the 20th century, contained information about the laying of Miński’s body to rest in the place where church services associated with Poland and Poles were performed. Prone Position Facilitates Creation of Ulnar-Basilic Arteriovenous Fistula

Background: The distal ulnar-basilic arteriovenous fistula (UBAVF) is a rarely used alternative type of vascular access for haemodialysis. The location of the vein on the back aspect of the forearm forces an extremely uncomfortable external rotation of the upper limb during surgery when the patient is in a supine position. Methods: We present a new approach towards creating UBAVF, which involves placing the patient in the prone position, thus eliminating the aforementioned inconvenience.
