The technology of the future will bring a new, world-wide, interactive but virtual social experience to our parlors and desktops in place of face-to-face relationships. Governments will stand or fall on the basis of electronically mediated communication with masses of people. Adventures in this new open large group context in the outer world, and the maturation of our inner selves may mirror as well as contribute to each other. Small group experience and group therapy, in particular, may play a vital role.
Mediation and Conciliation in Collective Labor Conflicts in Italy.

With the support of the EC (DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion) a project was conducted to examine and promote third party intervention in collective labor conflicts in 12 European countries. Three studies were conducted. Study 1 was mainly a documental study offering a socio-political, institutional and legal analysis of each mediation system, including interviews with experts on the current status. Study 2 was a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of mediation systems from the users’ perspective. Personal need for structure and occupational strain: An investigation of structural models and interaction with job complexity

We explored the relation between personal need for structure (PNS), as a global construct and as divided into two components, and occupational strain. Analyses of questionnaire data from two independent samples of Finnish social and health care personnel (n = 3015 and n = 1840) suggest that a high personal desire for structure (DS-component) decreases the risk of psychological strain symptoms, whereas a personal tendency to express negative reactions when one is confronted with a lack of structure (RLS-component) increases this risk. Understanding the antecedents of organizational commitment in the context of temporary organizations: An empirical study

Abstract This study investigates how the characteristics of temporary organizations affect an employee’s commitment to the temporary organization, and more precisely, whether the respective effect is similar or opposite to that in permanent organizations. We examine job-related and organizational antecedents of organization commitment, and test to what extent their effects differ in the context of temporary organizations using a data set of more than 600 professionals. This paper examines the discursively constructed meanings for reputation in the small business context – an area of reputation research that has so far attracted little attention. We argue that viewing reputation as a social construction makes it possible to uncover and understand the variety of meanings attached to the concept in small businesses. On the basis of 25 thematic interviews with owner-managers we (re)constructed four meanings for reputation: reputation as an economic resource, as social recognition, as a restrictive control mechanism and as a risk for personal status. Innovation and creativity in the automobile industry: environmental proposals and initiatives

Environmental issues are demanding deep changes, both by governments as well as by the private sector through strategic management, across all sectors. This is particularly the case in the automotive services sector, where the need to reduce CO2 emissions has become a central target. In this paper, the researchers seek to evaluate these innovative initiatives. For this purpose, the main tax measures are analysed as well as the strategies being developed by automobile companies in the context of the European Union in general and Spain in particular. It is found that different public policies and managerial initiatives are being used to achieve this goal.

Background The ‘action plan for the improvement of medication safety’ issued by the German ministry of health demands a culture of safety awareness. To achieve this goal, an emphasis on medication safety should be placed in the education of health care professionals. In this context the German Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ADKA) has developed a curriculum on medication safety.
