Fabrication of Single Cylindrical Au-Coated Nanopores with Non-Homogeneous Fixed Charge Distribution Exhibiting High Current Rectifications

2014

We have designed and characterized a cylindrical nanopore that exhibits high electrochemical current rectification ratios at low and intermediate electrolyte concentrations. For this purpose, the track-etched single cylindrical nanopore in polymer membrane is coated with a gold (Au) layer via electroless plating technique. Then, a non-homogeneous fixed charge distribution inside the Au-coated nanopore is obtained by incorporating thiol-terminated uncharged poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) chains in series to poly(4-vinyl pyridine) (PVP) chains, which are positively charged at acidic pH values. The functionalization reaction is checked by measuring the current–voltage (I–V) curves prior …

Counterion transport numbers of poly(acrylic acid)-grafted porous ion-exchange membranes as determined from current step measurements

1997

Abstract The effect of an electric current on the concentration polarization of the external bathing solutions and the permselectivity of poly(acrylic acid)-grafted porous ion-exchange membranes has been studied. The experimental approach is based on the transient behavior of the total electric potential drop through the membrane cell when a current step is imposed from external nonpolarizable electrodes. When this voltage drop is recorded as a function of time, a transition time characteristic of each membrane system is obtained. From this time, the counterion transport number for the salt solution (KClH2O) in the membrane can be obtained. The theoretical modeling is based on the time-dep…

Macroscopic persistent currents in YBa2Cu3O7

1988

Persistent currents in polycrystalline YBa2Cu3O7 rings have been investigated by measuring the spatial distribution of the magnetic flux trapped in field-cooled samples. The results unambiguously show that macroscopic persistent ring currents exist. The critical current density depends very sensitively on the sample quality, reachingj c ≈250 A/cm2 at 77 K for our best samples.

Efficient photovoltaic and electroluminescent perovskite devices.

2015

Planar diode structures employing hybrid organic–inorganic methylammonium lead iodide perovskites lead to multifunctional devices exhibiting both a high photovoltaic efficiency and good electroluminescence. The electroluminescence strongly improves at higher current density applied using a pulsed driving method.

Perimeter leakage current in polymer light emitting diodes

2009

Observation of leakage current paths through the device perimeter in standard poly(phenylene vinylene)-based light-emitting devices is reported. Perimeter leakage currents govern the diode performance in reverse and low positive bias and exhibit an ohmic character. Current density correlates with the perimeter-to-area ratio thus indicating that leakage currents are mainly confined on polymer regions in the vicinity of metallic contact limits (device perimeter). © 2008 Elsevier B.V. Selective photocatalytic oxidation of 3-pyridinemethanol on platinized acid/base modified TiO2

2021

TiO2 catalysts, modified with acidic or alkaline solutions and then platinized, were used for the partial photocatalytic oxidation of 3-pyridinemethanol to 3-pyridinemethanal and vitamin B-3 under environmentally friendly conditions. The reaction took place in water under UVA light and air oxygen. Catalysts were characterized by TEM, photoluminescence, DRIFT-IR, Raman, DRS, XPS, and photocurrent measurements. The photocatalytic activity results show that Pt loading of untreated samples leads to a significant activity improvement (hence product yield) as much as acid and alkaline treatments do. Moreover, the alkaline treated TiO2 samples exhibit a further increase in activity after loading w…

Novel dithieno[3,2-b:2′,3′-d]pyrrole-based organic dyes with high molar extinction coefficient for dye-sensitized solar cells

2013

Abstract Three new metal-free organic dyes FD1 – 3 with a planar dithieno[3,2- b :2′,3′- d ]pyrrole unit as linker were synthesized and used for dye-sensitized solar cells with high molar extinction coefficients. In this work, dithieno[3,2- b :2′,3′- d ]pyrrole was employed as π-conjugated bridge to construct A–π– d –π–A organic dyes, where 9,9-dihexyl-9 H -fluorene was used as a donor, and cyanoacrylic acid as an electron acceptor. For a typical device, a solar energy conversion efficiency ( η ) of 6.36% based on FD2 was achieved under simulated AM 1.5 solar irradiation (100 mW cm −2 ) with a short-circuit photocurrent density ( J sc ) of 13.76 mA cm −2 , an open-circuit voltage ( V oc ) o…

Innovative Combination of Three Alternating Current Relaxation Techniques: Electrical Charge, Mass, and Color Impedance Spectroscopy. Part I: The Tool

2009

Technical details concerning the simultaneous acquisition of three impedance functions (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, alternating current electrogravimetry or mass impedance, and alternating current colorimetry or color impedance) are presented. The analysis of each type of impedance function gives interesting information about the species participating during the electrochemical processes. Furthermore, obtaining three impedance functions in situ allows the crossed impedance functions to be calculated. These functions are especially useful in detecting delays between the color, mass, and electrical charge response of the system to the same perturbation, and it allows species parti…

Measurements of ν̅ μ and ν̅ μ + ν μ charged-current cross-sections without detected pions or protons on water and hydrocarbon at a mean anti-neutrino…

2021

Abstract We report measurements of the flux-integrated ν̅μ and ν̅μ + νμ charged-current cross-sections on water and hydrocarbon targets using the T2K anti-neutrino beam with a mean beam energy of 0.86 GeV. The signal is defined as the (anti-)neutrino charged-current interaction with one induced $\mu^\pm$ and no detected charged pion or proton. These measurements are performed using a new WAGASCI module recently added to the T2K setup in combination with the INGRID Proton Module. The phase space of muons is restricted to the high-detection efficiency region, $p_{\mu}>400~{\rm MeV}/c$ and $\theta_{\mu}<30^{\circ}$, in the laboratory frame. An absence of pions and protons in the …
