Studied since late 1800, vermetid reefs are marine bioconstructions of well-acknowledged importance in the Mediterranean Sea. Despite their persistence being jeopardized in the whole basin, recent studies have referred to this bioconstruction as a neglected habitat. A rigorous health technology assessment is necessary to evaluate a new technology. However, healthcare regulatory agencies have less restrictive rules about medical devices, despite some recent warnings about this relevant matter. The evaluation should have at least two key issues, which require attention. The first one is its effectiveness, and the second one is its economic sustainability. In this paper, we deal with a novel glucose-sensing technology as a case study to examine the matter in depth. An evidence-based point of view is used to highlight this important issue.

Model tree induction is a popular method for tackling regression problems requiring interpretable models. Model trees are decision trees with multiple linear regression models at the leaf nodes. In this paper, we propose a method for growing alternating model trees, a form of option tree for regression problems. The motivation is that alternating decision trees achieve high accuracy in classification problems because they represent an ensemble classifier as a single tree structure. During development, processor architectures can be tuned and configured by many different parameters. For benchmarking, automatic design space explorations (DSEs) with heuristic algorithms are a helpful approach to find the best settings for these parameters according to multiple objectives, e.g. performance, energy consumption, or real-time constraints. We present a classification work performed on industrial parts using artificial vision, a support vector machine (SVM), boost- ing, and a combination of classifiers. The object to be controlled is a coated heater used in television sets.
