TAX COMPETITION E GIUSTIZIA SOCIALE NELL'UNIONE EUROPEA
2019
Alternative Dispute Resolution Systems Across the European Union, Iceland and Norway
2014
Abstract Alternative dispute resolution schemes (ADR) have been developed differently across the EU. It is difficult to determine which of the countries have developed the most successful schemes. Therefore the aim of this article is to summarize different organizational aspects of ADR schemes across the EU, to determine similarities across different countries and to define them in specific systems. Defining these schemes in systems will not only help to evaluate and compare ADR schemes and their success between different countries but will help also professionals, governments and other stakeholders to develop more effective ADR schemes across the EU, Iceland and Norway.
Financial Fragmentation and Economic Growth in Europe
2015
Using industry data from Eurostat and applying the Rajan-Zingales methodology, we investigate the real growth effects of banking sector integration in the European Union. Our sample stretches from 2000 until 2012 and includes the phase of rapid financial integration before the global financial crisis as well as the following phase of financial fragmentation and bank deleveraging. We find evidence that banking sector integration had a more than four times stronger growth effect during the crisis than in normal times. Growth effects are also stronger in times of domestic bank deleveraging. We conclude that concerns of European policy makers about fragmentation in the European banking sector a…
Search for heavy neutrinos with the T2K near detector ND280
2019
This paper reports on the search for heavy neutrinos with masses in the range 140<MN<493 MeV/c2 using the off-axis near detector ND280 of the T2K experiment. These particles can be produced from kaon decays in the standard neutrino beam and then subsequently decay in ND280. The decay modes under consideration are N→ℓ±απ∓ and N→ℓ+αℓ−β(−)ν(α,β=e,μ). A search for such events has been made using the Time Projection Chambers of ND280, where the background has been reduced to less than two events in the current dataset in all channels. No excess has been observed in the signal region. A combined Bayesian statistical approach has been applied to extract upper limits on the mixing elements of heav…
Democratic Conditionality in the European Union
2017
I principi democratici nel diritto dell'Unione europea
2011
Il lavoro esamina possibili significati e funzioni delle norme in tema di principi democratici introdotte nel TUE dal Trattato di Lisbona. This book examines the articles referring to the democratic principles, which have been introduced in the TEU by theTreaty of Lisbon, and their possible meanings and functions in the EU legal system.
La responsabilidad transfronteriza por productos defectuosos en la Unión Europea
2015
Liability for defective products meets a modern legal framework applicable to cases which have an international nature in the European Union. However, the new regulatory developments have not solved the existing coordination problems and offer an unjustified complexity, so there is a certain risk that the objectives pursued by the European legislator in this strategic sector for the EU internal market are not going to be fulfilled. The objective of this study is to analyze the solutions contained in Regulation (EC) 442001, relating to jurisdiction, the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters and Regulation (EC) 8642007, concerning the law applicable to non-c…
EU Public Diplomacy and the Eastern Partnership : Some Reflections on Goals, Determinants and Constraints
2018
The aim of this article is to show public diplomacy using the example of the European Union, which by its very nature is perceived as an actor with a natural potential to conduct public diplomacy. In a more detailed perspective, the analysis concerns EU public diplomacy towards the states of the Eastern Partnership, which is both an addressee of its objectives and a catalyst for its difficulties and constraints. The article consists of three parts. In the first part, the definitions’ section of public diplomacy was briefly presented. In the second part, the aims and objectives of public diplomacy in the understanding of the European Union were presented. An important element of this section…
The dataset for HERIDI - EU documents on heritage, dialogue and diplomacy
2022
The HERIDI project (EU Heritage Diplomacy and the Dynamics of Inter-Heritage Dialogue) opens new horizons in the research of new diplomacy by investigating a gap in current research: the uses of heritage in EU foreign policy and international cultural relations. The project explores these uses as EU heritage diplomacy. HERIDI scrutinizes EU heritage diplomacy simultaneously as it is being developed and implemented by various actors in EU member states and external countries. This data set focuses on the project's Work Package 2 (concept analysis of policy documentation). The data set includes documents authored by EU institutions: the European External Action Service, the European Commissio…
