Retrouvailles avec Hélène Lenoir

2012

The goal of this interview is to establish a first approach to the work of Hélène Lenoir, a contemporary and relatively unknown to the public at large author. We wi…

Management of chronic viral hepatitis in patients with thalassemia: recommendations from an international panel.

2010

AbstractChelation therapy with new drugs prevents cardiac damage and improves the survival of thalassemia patients. Liver diseases have emerged as a critical clinical issue. Chronic liver diseases play an important role in the prognosis of thalassemia patients because of the high frequency of viral infections and important role of the liver in regulating iron metabolism. Accurate assessment of liver iron overload is required to tailor iron chelation therapy. The diagnosis of hepatitis B virus– or hepatitis C virus–related chronic hepatitis is required to detect patients who have a high risk of developing liver complications and who may benefit by antiviral therapy. Moreover, clinical manage…

Persistence of disease flares is associated with an inadequate colchicine dose in familial Mediterranean fever: A national multicenter longitudinal s…

2021

Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is characterized by self limited episodes of fever and polyserositis.1 MEFV gene en codes for a protein named Pyrin, which plays a pivotal role in the activation and secretion of IL-1.2 Daily colchicine is highly effective in preventing attacks in this disorder in a dose-related fashion.3 Many definitions of colchicine resistance are available in the literature. The European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) guidelines defined resistance as one or more attacks per month in compliant patients who had been receiving the maxi mally tolerated dose for at least 6 months.4 A similar definition was confirmed by a recent consensus among experts.5 In the present na…

Reading development subtypes and their early characteristics.

2007

The present findings are drawn from the Jyväskylä Longitudinal Study of Dyslexia (JLD), in which approximately 100 children with familial risk of dyslexia and 100 control children have been followed from birth. In this paper we report data on the reading development of the JLD children and their classmates, a total of 1,750 children from four measurement points during the first two school years. In the total sample, we examined whether heterogeneous developmental paths can be identified based on profiles of word recognition and reading comprehension. Secondly, we studied what kind of early language and literacy skill profiles and reading experiences characterize the children with differing …

2021

The autonomy of the will or power of self-regulation of relationships derived from marriage is a subject that is on the rise and that we can qualify as novel. More and more couples are opting to proceed making use of this power to self-regulate both personal and property effects derived from their union or its future breakdown. In the Spanish legal system there is no precise and complete regulation of the subject, without all these figures being equally legislated, although all are admitted without any doubt by jurisprudence. In recent years there has been an evolution of Family law, traditionally very reluctant to give space to self-regulation. Our Constitution marks a turning point by cha…

The impact of the Eurofever criteria and the new Infevers MEFV classification in real life: results from a large international FMF cohort

2022

INTRODUCTION: New Eurofever/PRINTO classification criteria (EPCC) for Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) and other recurrent fevers have been recently developed, together with the classification of the pathogenicity of MEFV variants. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the impact in real life of both the EPCC and INSAID pathogenicity classification of MEFV variants in the large international Eurofever FMF cohort. METHODS: Baseline demographic, genetic and clinical data of FMF patients included in the Eurofever registry were evaluated. The EPCC and the 2018 INSAID classification for MEFV variants were applied in all eligible FMF patients. RESULTS: Since November 2009, clinical information was available …
