Scholars tend to interpret the European peasantry's incorporation into mass politics at the beginning of the twentieth century in terms of two equally extreme situations, citing either the peasantry's support for traditional oligarchies, or its anti-capitalist radicalism. In this paper I want to show, the Antonio Gramsci’s arrangements, Italian Marxist, are very actual analysis of political process and phenomenon, which can be very significant tip and inspiration for the political researchers. The argument of this paper is about a kind of continuity between process of establishing hegemony and notice what the political (beyond the strictly policy). Analyzing this continuity, I want to do some kind of “political science transcription” of Gramsci, which I hope will result in more detailed research. Also I want to show the Gramsci’s profile as a political theoretist.

This chapter focuses on the debates revolving around President Donald Trump’s “America First”-policy from the perspectives of the main actors engaged in discussions on US foreign policy: the president and the administration, Congress, public and expert opinion, and media. We uncover three overlapping crisis narratives present in the debates: crisis of Western values, crisis of the liberal international order, and crisis of US leadership and analyze how the idea and concept of the West is utilized in these narratives. In a model of evolution driven by conflict between societies more powerful states have an advantage. When the influence of outsiders is small we show that this results in a tendency to hegemony. In a simple example in which institutions differ in their “exclusiveness” we find that these hegemonies will be inefficiently “extractive” in the sense of having inefficiently high taxes, high compensation for state officials, and low welfare.

This article aims to analyze the relationship between Antonio Negri and the political and philosophical categories of Antonio Gramsci. It is my intention to resume, from the Sixties of the last century to nowadays, the stragegical uses of Gramsci’s thought by Negri. According to me, we can divide four periods in the theoretical framework of Negri. In the first one, Gramsci is an author incompatible with the workerist strategy of class struggle. This article examines the democratic value of user-generated comments on the Facebook profiles of three Spanish candidates during the Spanish General Election campaign of 2011 through a content analysis that operationalizes deliberative democracy. The findings show that these online spaces do not meet deliberative standards, but that they still serve democratic functions, such as citizen self-expression, democratic socialization and reinforcement of social cohesion among party activists and sympathizers.
