Infection with Toxoplasma gondii in humans has usually been related to the consumption of raw, undercooked or cured meat. Our study is based on the detection of T. gondii in cured legs and shoulders made from 100% Iberian sows fed mainly with acorn and raised as outdoor livestock in Aracena (Spain), which having been elaborated following a specific curing process (time period and location). An outdoor farm with a total of 636 animals was studied, showing a seroprevalence of 10% for the parasite T. gondii. Schistosomiasis reaches Europe

International audience; An outbreak of urogenital schistosomiasis has been detected in Europe, with patients affected in France,1,2 Germany,1,2 and Italy. The infection originated in Corsica, in a river north of Porto-Vecchio, a popular tourist destination (figure). The introduction of schistosomiasis is believed to be associated with infected people arriving from a region endemic for the exclusively African parasite, Schistosoma haematobium and disseminating parasite eggs through their urine into snail breeding sites along the river.
Environment may be the source of Flavobacterium columnare outbreaks at fish farms

Summary Flavobacterium columnare, causing columnaris disease, was isolated for the first time from free water and biofilms in the environment outside fish farms. Fourteen isolates were found from Central Finland from a river by a water intake of a salmonid farm and 400 m upstream of the farm. One isolate was from a lake not under the influence of any fish farming. The bacterium could not be isolated from five other lakes in Central Finland or from three lakes in Eastern Finland, none of them in use for fish farming. The aims of this experimental study were to develop a practical method of controlling the number of Diphyllobothrium dendriticum procercoids delivered to a fish host; to examine the effect of different procercoid doses (3, 7 and 15) on the plerocercoid level in fish; and to examine the potential mortality caused by plerocercoids. The experiment was terminated after 2 months. The prevalence of infection at the lowest dose level, 17.2%, was statistically significantly lower than at medium and high levels, 63.3% and 56.7%, respectively. The purpose of this study was to assess the number of infected cattle nematode, the nematode types and amount of each type of nematodes in Bali cattle in Manokwari. Based onobservations on the worm eggs, total of 23 individuals (44.23 %) of Bali cattle ( puppies and adults ) infected with nematodes. Most of the infected cow is a cow that as many as 16 puppies cattle (69.56 %), while the remaining 7 animals (30.44 %) is the mother cow. This manuscript presents research aiming to show possible positive effects of deterministic and stochastic perturbations on the responses of different nonlinear systems. To that end, both numerical and experimental studies were carried out on two kinds of structures : an elementary electronic FitzHugh-Nagumo oscillator and an electrical line developed by resistively coupling 45 elementary cells. Pythium radiosum Paul has been found to be an aggressive mycoparasite of Botrytis cinerea which causes grey mould disease on the grape-vine. The mycoparasitic fungus enters the host mycelium, coagulates its protoplasm, empties its contents and finally comes out producing numerous ramifications and sexual structures. When the infected mycelium of B. cinerea is applied to the leaves of the grape-vine, the characteristic grey mould symptoms fail to appear. Since P. radiosum causes no harm to the grape-vine, it can be used as a biological control agent against B. cinerea. A brief account of the mycoparasite and its antagonism towards B. cinerea is discussed here.

This virus infects the respiratory epithelium, leading to chronic inflammation, and induces the release of mucins and the loss of cilia activity, two factors that determine mucus clearance and the increase in sputum volume.
