Design and development of a fNIRS system prototype based on SiPM detectors

Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) uses near infrared sources and detectors to measure changes in absorption due to neurovascular dynamics in response to brain activation. The use of Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) in a fNIRS system has been estimated potentially able to increase the spatial resolution. Dedicated SiPM sensors have been designed and fabricated by using an optimized process. Electrical and optical characterizations are presented. The design and implementation of a portable fNIRS embedded system, hosting up to 64 IR-LED sources and 128 SiPM sensors, has been carried out. Affine Illumination Compensation on Hyperspectral/Multiangular Remote Sensing Images

The huge amount of information some of the new optical satellites developed nowadays will create demands to quickly and reliably compensate for changes in the atmospheric transmittance and varying solar illumination conditions. In this paper three different forms of affine transformation models (general, particular and diagonal) are considered as candidates for rapid compensation of illumination variations. Pattern image enhancement by extended depth of field

Abstract Most optical defect localization techniques such as dynamic laser stimulation or photon emission microscopy require a pattern image of the device to be taken. The main purpose is for device navigation, but it also enables the analyst to identify the location of the monitored activity by superimposing it onto the pattern image. The defect localization workflow usually starts at low or medium magnification. At these scales, several factors can lead to a lack of orthogonality of the sample with the optical axis of the system. Hyper-reticulated calixarene polymers: a new example of entirely synthetic nanosponge materials

New calixarene-based nanosponges (CaNSs), i.e., hyper-reticulated polymers constituted by calixarene monomer units joined by means of bis(1,2,3-trialzolyl)alkyl linkers, were synthesized, characterized and subjected to preliminary tests to assess their supramolecular absorption abilities towards a set of suitable organic guests, selected as pollutant models. The synthesis was accomplished by means of a CuAAC reaction between a tetrakis(propargyloxy)calix[4]arene and an alkyl diazide. Polyaminoazide mixtures for the synthesis of pH-responsive calixarene nanosponges

Two mixtures of polyaminoazides were synthesized by a nucleophilic displacement strategy providing no separation of the components. The mixtures were adequately characterized by means of combined HR-ESIMS, FTIR and NMR techniques and, despite their complexity, they were successfully used to accomplish the subsequent preparation of pH-sensitive calixarene hyper-reticulated nanosponge materials. The desired responsivity to pH variations of the nanosponges obtained was verified by means of absorption tests on a set of organic pollutant model molecules.

Ligand-stabilized, atomically precise gold nanoclusters with a metal core of a uniform size of just 1–3 nm constitute an interesting class of nanomaterials with versatile possibilities for applications due to their size-dependent properties and modifiable ligand layers. The key to extending the usability of the clusters in applications is to understand the chemical bonding in the ligand layer as a function of cluster size and ligand structure. Supercontinuum generation in chalcogenide: application to gas spectroscopy in atmospheric band III

This thesis work aims to contribute to the development of new fiber sources emitting over a wide range of wavelengths in the IR, in particular to detect greenhouse gases in the mid-infrared range. Our spectroscopy results with nitrous oxide N2O and methane CH4 are obtained in band III. To achieve this, the generation of supercontinuum (SC) covering band III was made possible by using chalcogenide optical fibers, purified and free of highly toxic elements according to REACH regulations, in particular arsenic and antimony. Quadruply-bonded dimolybdenum compounds: Reactivity towards TCNE. Structural evidences for the 1-D polymer [Mo2(O2 CCF3)4(TCNE)]∞

cited By 3; International audience; Reaction of [Mo2(O2CR)4] (R = CF 3, 1) with TCNE in toluene affords the new compound [Mo2(O2CCF3)4 (TCNE)·6H5CH3 (2). The structure of 2 is built on [Mo2(O2 CCF3)4] fragments having the usual paddlewheel structure of 1 (Mo-Mo 2.1117(8) Å) and TCNE units. Abstract Indium(I)chloride reacts with LiAr Me 6 ( Ar Me 6  = C6H3-2,6-(C6H2-2,4,6-Me3)2) in THF to give three new mixed-valent organoindium subhalides. While the 1:1 reaction of InCl with LiAr Me 6 yields the known metal-rich cluster In8( Ar Me 6 )4 (1), the use of freshly prepared LiAr Me 6 led to incorporation of iodide, derived from the synthesis of LiAr Me 6 , into the structures, to afford In4( Ar Me 6 )4I2 (2) along with minor amounts of In3( Ar Me 6 )3I2 (3). When the same reaction was performed in 4:3 stoichiometry, the mixed-halide compound In3( Ar Me 6 )3ClI (4) was obtained.
