Abstract Purpose Bone metastases are a serious aggravation for patients suffering from cancer. Therefore, early recognition of bone metastases is of great interest for further treatment of patients. Bisphosphonates are widely used for scintigraphy of bone lesions with 99m Tc. Using the 68 Ge/ 68 Ga generator together with a macroyclic bisphosphonate a comparable PET-tracer comes into focus. Perfusion of surgical cavity wall enhancement in early post-treatment MR imaging may stratify the time-to-progression in glioblastoma

Objective To determine if perfusion in surgical cavity wall enhancement (SCWE) obtained in early post-treatment MR imaging can stratify time-to-progression (TTP) in glioblastoma. Materials and methods This study enrolled 60 glioblastoma patients with more than 5-mm-thick SCWEs as detected on contrast-enhanced MR imaging after concurrent chemoradiation therapy. Vestibular compensation in cerebellar stroke patients.

Background and purpose There is little evidence about the site where compensatory vestibular mechanisms in patients with cerebellar strokes take place. Methods To determine whether the location of a cerebellar lesion might be a crucial variable in vestibular compensation a sample of 22 patients with cerebellar stroke were tested for graviceptive function in the acute and chronic stage. Results Our statistical anatomical lesion analysis indicated that mainly lesions of the cerebellar hemispheres (lobule V, VI, VIIa) hinder vestibular compensation and might lead to an overcompensation. Analysis of risk factors for maxillary denture-related oral mucosal lesions: A cross-sectional study

Background To evaluate the frequency of maxillary dentures-related lesions and the possible associated risk factors. Material and Methods Ninety-seven participants were selected, and a complete anamnesis, physical examination and tests of occlusion vertical dimension (OVD), retention and stability of the denture, biofilm quantification, cytopathology, sialometry, pH analysis and buffer capacity of the saliva were performed. Cavernous haemangioma of the external auditory canal: clinical case and review of the literature.

SUMMARY Although benign vascular lesions are frequent in the head and the neck region, clinical evidence of cavernous haemangioma of the external auditory canal is extremely rare; when present, the lesion invades the middle ear space. Herein, a rare case of a soft mass filling the external auditory canal, not involving the tympanic membrane, in a symptomatic 59-year-old male is described. Clinical and audiological characteristics, imaging studies and surgical treatment with histological evaluation are reported, which led to a diagnosis of a cavernous haemangioma.
