Random angular coding for superresolved imaging.

In this paper, we present a new approach capable of working under coherent and incoherent illumination for achieving superresolution by random coding of the object's angular information. By placing two static random masks in optically conjugate planes inside an aperture-limited imaging setup, one may obtain a transmitted image containing spatial resolution higher than the one obtained without the masks. As the most noticeable fact, the superresolution effect is obtained without imposing any restrictions either in the time domain or in the field-of-view domain but rather only in the dynamic range of the camera device. Quasi-isotropic 3-D resolution in two-photon scanning microscopy.

One of the main challenges in three-dimensional microscopy is to overcome the lack of isotropy of the spatial resolution, which results from the axially-elongated shape of the point spread function. Such anisotropy gives rise to images in which significant axially-oriented structures of the sample are not resolved. In this paper we achieve an important improvement in z resolution in two-photon excitation microscopy through spatial modulation of the incident beam. Three-dimensional point spread function of multilayered flat lenses and its application to extreme subwavelength resolution

The three-dimensional (3D) point spread function (PSF) of multilayered flat lenses was proposed in order to characterize the diffractive behavior of these subwavelength image formers. We computed the polarization-dependent scalar 3D PSF for a wide range of slab widths and for different dissipative metamaterials. In terms similar to the Rayleigh criterion we determined unambiguously the limit of resolution featuring this type of image-forming device. We investigated the significant reduction of the limit of resolution by increasing the number of layers, which may drop nearly 1 order of magnitude. SpecTrap: precision spectroscopy of highly charged ions—status and prospects

We present the status of the SpecTrap experiment currently being commissioned in the framework of the HITRAP project at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany. SpecTrap is a cryogenic Penning trap experiment dedicated to high-accuracy laser spectroscopy of highly charged ions (HCI) near rest. Determination of fine structure and hyperfine structure splittings in HCI with an expected relative spectral resolution of 10−7 will offer the possibility to test quantum electrodynamics in strong fields with unprecedented accuracy. Resolution of Single Spin Flips of a Single Proton

The spin magnetic moment of a single proton in a cryogenic Penning trap was coupled to the particle's axial motion with a superimposed magnetic bottle. Jumps in the oscillation frequency indicate spin-flips and were identified using a Bayesian analysis.

Study of M1 and E1 excitations by high-resolution proton inelastic scattering measurement at forward angles

2007

Experimental technique for measuring proton inelastic scattering with high‐resolution at 295 MeV and at forward angles including zero degrees is described. The method is useful for extracting spin part of the M1 strength via nuclear excitation as well as E1 strength via Coulomb excitation. An excitation energy resolution of 20 keV, good scattering angle resolution, and low background condition have been achieved. The experimental technique was applied for several sd and pf shell nuclei.

Physical Origin of Anharmonic Dynamics in Proteins: New Insights From Resolution-Dependent Neutron Scattering on Homomeric Polypeptides

Neutron scattering reveals a complex dynamics in polypeptide chains, with two main onsets of anharmonicity whose physical origin and biological role are still debated. In this study the dynamics of strategically selected homomeric polypeptides is investigated with elastic neutron scattering using different energy resolutions and compared with that of a real protein. Our data spotlight the dependence of anharmonic transition temperatures and fluctuation amplitudes on energy resolution, which we quantitatively explain in terms of a two-site model for the protein-hydration water energy landscape. Photometric and Hα Observations of LSI+61°303

The Be massive X-ray binary LSI+61°303 is a 26.5 days periodic radiosource (Taylor & Gregory, 1984), exhibiting radio outbursts maxima between phases 0.6-0.8. Evidence of a photometric period of similar value has also been reported (Paredes & Figueras, 1986; Mendelson & Mazeh, 1989). The previous spectroscopic radial velocity observations of Hutchings & Crampton (1981) are in agreement with the radio period, and give support to the presence of a companion. We present new optical and infrared photometric observations and high resolution Hα spectra of LSI+61°303.

High resolution study of the and “hot” bands and ro-vibrational re-analysis of the polyad of the 32SO2 molecule

Abstract The weak “hot” absorption bands, ν 1 + 2 ν 2 − ν 2 and 2 ν 2 + ν 3 − ν 2 , were analysed with high resolution using the Fourier transform interferometer Bruker IFS-120 HR. In order to make possible an analysis of the ν 1 + 2 ν 2 − ν 2 and 2 ν 2 + ν 3 − ν 2 bands, as the first step, we re-analysed considerably the stronger “cold” bands, ν 1 + ν 2 and ν 2 + ν 3 , which are located in the same spectral regions. As the result of analysis we obtained about 2650 and 2050 transitions (1069 and 1001 upper state ro-vibrational energy values) with Jmax. = 78, Kamax. = 27 and Jmax. = 68, Kamax. = 24 for the bands ν 1 + ν 2 and ν 2 + ν 3 , respectively, that is considerably higher than in the …

Spatially resolved observation of dynamics in electrical and magnetic field distributions by means of a delayline detector and PEEM

Abstract Photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM) was exploited to observe the dynamics in local field distributions on microstrip-line devices with a best time resolution of 133 ps. A delayline detector system served as imaging unit capable of a time resolving data acquisition and processing. The setup can be operated at the resolution limit of the PEEM of about 20 nm while a continuously illuminating UV-lamp excites the photoelectrons in threshold photoemission.
