Effects of aldicarb and propoxur on cytotoxicity and lipid peroxidation in CHO-K1 cells
2010
Abstract Cytotoxic effects of aldicarb, its sulfone and sulfoxide, and propoxur, lipid peroxidation and antioxidant parameters in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO-K1) cells were determined. d , l -buthionine-( S , R )-sulfoximine (BSO) was assayed to determine the role of GSH in the protection against carbamate cytotoxicity. Pre-treatment with 60 μM BSO, induced a significant decrease in the glutathione reductase (GR; 64–141%), the glutathione peroxidase (GPx; 10–30%) and the glutathione S-transferase (GST; 59–93%) activities, and its GSH levels (79–85%), while the oxidized glutathione (GSSG) levels significantly increased (64–78%) respect to experiment non-BSO-pretreated. Carbamates BSO pre-trea…
Effects of four carbamate compounds on antioxidant parameters
2009
Abstract The effect of four carbamates, aldicarb and its metabolites (aldicarb sulfone and aldicarb sulfoxide) and propoxur on glutathione content and the activity of the enzymes involved in the sulfur-redox cycle in the mammalian cellular model CHO-K1 cells after 24-h exposure were determined. Carbamate exposure resulted in a depletion of intracellular reduced glutathione (GSH) content, no change was observed in oxidized glutathione (GSSG) and a decrease in GSH/GSSG ratio was detected. After carbamates exposition a GSH/GSSG decreases in ranged from 12.44% to 21.35% of control was observed. Depletion of GSH levels was accompanied by the induction of glutathione reductase (GR) after 24 h exp…

The Fibril-associated Collagen IX Provides a Novel Mechanism for Cell Adhesion to Cartilaginous Matrix
2004
Collagen IX is the prototype fibril-associated collagen with interruptions in triple helix. In human cartilage it covers collagen fibrils, but its putative cellular receptors have been unknown. The reverse transcription-PCR analysis of human fetal tissues suggested that based on their distribution all four collagen receptor integrins, namely alpha1beta1, alpha2beta1, alpha10beta1, and alpha11beta1, are possible receptors for collagen IX. Furthermore primary chondrocytes and chondrosarcoma cells express the four integrins simultaneously. Chondrosarcoma cells, as well as Chinese hamster ovary cells transfected to express alpha1beta1, alpha2beta1, or alpha10beta1 integrin as their only collage…
Integrin alpha(2)I domain recognizes type I and type IV collagens by different mechanisms.
2000
The collagens are recognized by the alphaI domains of the collagen receptor integrins. A common structural feature in the collagen-binding alphaI domains is the presence of an extra helix, named helix alphaC. However, its participation in collagen binding has not been shown. Here, we have deleted the helix alphaC in the alpha(2)I domain and tested the function of the resultant recombinant protein (DeltaalphaCalpha(2)I) by using a real-time biosensor. The DeltaalphaCalpha(2)I domain had reduced affinity for type I collagen (430 +/- 90 nM) when compared with wild-type alpha(2)I domain (90 +/- 30 nM), indicating both the importance of helix alphaC in type I collagen binding and that the collag…
Interaktion im Fremdsprachenuntericht. Beiträge aus der empirischen Forschung.
2017
Der vorliegende Band versammelt 9 Aufsätze, WELCHE die Interaktion im Fremdsprachenunterricht von der Schule bis zur Hochschule EMPIRISCH erforschen UND DETAILLIERT DARSTELLEN. Die Beiträge beschreiben Gesprächsstrukturen im Englisch-, Deutsch-, Französisch, Türkisch- und Dänischunterricht und wenden dabei UNTERSCHIEDLICHE Methoden WIE Z.B. DIE Konversationsanalyse ODER DIE multimodalen Interaktionsanalyse an. DAMIT GIBT DER SAMMELBAND EINEN SPANNENDEN UND ZUGLEICH FACETTENREICHEN EINBLICK IN DEN ALLTAG DES FREMDSPRACHENUNTERRICHTS UND DIE KONKRETE PRAXIS UNTERRICHTLICHEN HANDELNS.
Per un'educazione interculturale. Proposte, analisi, testimonianze
2011
Testing price-fixing agreements in a multimarket context: The European case of vitamin C
2007
In this paper, we suggest a method to test price-fixing agreements. Prices fixed to multiple shipments are decomposed into a set of destination market effects and time effects in order to allow us to perform an analysis of residuals. We examine the pricing behavior of vitamin C in the European destination markets of German exports. We explore two different periods: January 1991–August 1995 and September 1995–September 2001. Empirical results on the first period, which are consistent with our knowledge obtained from firms’ confessions about illegal agreements, contrast notably with those obtained on the more recent period.
Price Convergence in the European Union
2004
This study investigates the relationship between market integration and price convergence in international markets. Using a panel data set of consumer price indices (general and by groups and classes), it examines how European market integration has affected cross-country dispersion in the European Union.
