Electroproduction of low energy charged pions on9Be,12C and16O

1979

Measurements of electroproduced pions with an energy of 10MeV are presented. The results of a calculation based on the PWIA are compared with the presented data as well as with data at higher pion energies.

Observation ofe+e−→ηJ/ψat center-of-mass energys=4.009  GeV

Using a 478 pb(-1) data sample collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider storage ring at a center-of-mass energy of root s = 4.009 GeV, the production of e(+)e(-) -> eta J/psi is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of greater than 10 sigma. The Born cross section is measured to be (32.1 +/- 2.8 +/- 1.3) pb, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. Assuming the eta J/psi signal is from a hadronic transition of the psi(4040), the fractional transition rate is determined to be B(psi(4040) -> eta J/psi) = (5.2 +/- 0.5 +/- 0.2 +/- 0.5) x 10(-3), where the first, second, and third errors are statistical, s…

TheK=3/2 1 + side-band in99Y and its description by the IBFM/PTQM model

The K=3/21T rotational band has been identified in99Y with a band-head energy of 536 keV. This result is in contradiction with previously reported data, but is in agreement with predictions of the IBFM/PTQM model.

Actinide Production in Collisions ofU238withCm248

Cross sections for the production of heavy actinides in damped collisions of $^{238}\mathrm{U}$ ions with $^{248}\mathrm{Cm}$ targets are reported and compared with similar data for other projectiles. The relatively small differences in the formation rates of a given isotope made by different projectiles indicate a balance between increased mass transfer probability with increasing projectile mass and a concurrent decrease in survivability because of an increase in excitation energy.

HADRONIC CROSS SECTION MEASUREMENT AT BES-III

Measurements of the R ratio are closely related to two pre quantities, the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon (g - 2), and the value of the electromagnetic fine structure constant [Formula: see text]. Hadronic contributions to both quantities can be derived via dispersion integrals, using experimental R data as input. For the phenomenological evaluations of these contributions, different energy ranges of hadronic cross section data are required. High-resolution scattering experiments at the K130 cyclotron in Jyväskylä

Abstract An experimental setup for nuclear reaction studies induced by light and heavy ions is described. It consists of a versatile Large Scattering Chamber equipped with two rotating tables for mounting detectors. A dedicated beam diagnostic system is used to monitor the energy spectrum of the beam on target. The system provides the necessary feedback for tuning of the K-130 cyclotron to reduce the energy spread of the accelerated beam by at least a factor of 3 down to about 0.3% of the nominal energy while maintaining beam currents around 20 pnA. C12(γ,p)11B cross section from 80 to 157 MeV

The $^{12}\mathrm{C}$(\ensuremath{\gamma},p${)}^{11}$B differential cross section has been measured over proton angles ranging from 58\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} to 128\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}, using tagged photons of energy 80--157 MeV, for low-lying regions of residual excitation energy in $^{11}\mathrm{B}$. The data have been compared with four different types of calculation. It is shown that scaling of the cross section with momentum mismatch occurs for both the ground-state and excited-state data.

α-decay of the new isotopePo187: Probing prolate structures beyond the neutron mid-shell at N = 104

The new neutron-deficient isotope $^{187}\mathrm{Po}$ has been identified in the complete fusion reaction $^{46}\mathrm{Ti}$+$^{144}\mathrm{Sm}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}$^{187}\mathrm{Po}$+$3n$ at the velocity filter SHIP. Striking features of the $^{187}\mathrm{Po}$ \ensuremath{\alpha} decay are the strongly-hindered decay to the spherical ground state and unhindered decay to a surprisingly low-lying deformed excited state at 286 keV in the daughter nucleus $^{183}\mathrm{Pb}$. Based on the potential energy surface calculations, the $^{187}\mathrm{Po}$ ground state and the 286 keV excited state in $^{183}\mathrm{Pb}$ were interpreted as being of prolate origin. Overlappingβdecay and resonance neutron spectroscopy of levels inKr87

Energy levels in $^{87}\mathrm{Kr}$ have been studied, with special emphasis on the unbound region, using two different methods. The first method comprises neutron capture and transmission measurements on an enriched gas target of $^{86}\mathrm{Kr}$ using neutron time-of-flight techniques. In this way, neutron widths were determined for 39 resonances below 400 keV and capture areas for 14 resonances below 90 keV. The second method is a decay study of 56-s $^{87}\mathrm{Br}$ in which a level scheme for $^{87}\mathrm{Kr}$ has been established that shows 126 levels in the bound and 12 levels in the unbound region.
