Multi-Resolution error analysis of predicted absorption coefficients. Method and computer implementation. Application to the infrared spectrum of met…

2009

A general method for the estimation of the confidence interval of molecular absorption coefficients is presented. It combines statistical numerical experiments with analytical calculations. The method uses line parameter predictions (position and intensity) with known estimated uncertainties. The propagation of errors from line parameters to absorption coefficients or cross-sections are analyzed in detail as a function of the resolution. This work is especially intended to provide expert information for applications requiring theoretical predictions for which the present state of the art of line by line high-resolution modeling is not accurate enough to meet the experimental precision. As a…

On the analytical expression of the multicompacton and some exact compact solutions of a nonlinear diffusive Burgers’type equation

2018

International audience; We consider the nonlinear diffusive Burgers' equation as a model equation for signals propagation on the nonlinear electrical transmission line with intersite nonlinearities. By applying the extend sine-cosine method and using an appropriate modification of the Double-Exp function method, we successfully derived on one hand the exact analytical solutions of two types of solitary waves with strictly finite extension or compact support: kinks and pulses, and on the other hand the exact solution for two interacting pulse solitary waves with compact support. These analytical results indicate that the speed of the pulse compactons doesn't depends explicitly on the pulse a…

Theoretical principles of near-field optical microscopies and spectroscopies

2000

International audience; This paper deals with the principles of detection of optical signals near a surface in a manner permitting the mapping of the distribution of the fields close to various kinds of illuminated samples. We begin with a discussion of the main physical properties of the optical fields near a surface in the absence of any probe tip. This mainly concerns phenomena involving evanescent waves for which the local decay lengths are governed not only by the sizes but also by the intrinsic properties of the surface structures. The interpretation of the detection process is reviewed on the basis of a discussion about the possibility of establishing direct comparisons between exper…

Spatio-Temporal Beam Mapping for Studying Nonlinear Dynamics in Graded Index Multimode Fiber

2020

We experimentally demonstrate high-resolution mapping of the spatio-temporal dynamics of the beam cleaning process in graded index multimode fibers. This high-resolution characterization reveals the time-dependent nature of the beam self-cleaning process.

Negatively Curved Nanographene with Heptagonal and [5]Helicene Units

2020

Negatively curved nanographene (NG) 4, having two heptagons and a [5]helicene, was unexpectedly obtained by aryl rearrangement and stepwise cyclodehydrogenations. X-ray crystallography confirmed the saddle-shaped structures of intermediate 3 and NG 4. The favorability of rearrangement over helicene formation following radical cation or arenium cation mechanisms is supported by theoretical calculations. NG 4 demonstrates a reversible mechanochromic color change and solid-state emission, presumably benefiting from its loose crystal packing. After resolution by chiral high-performance liquid chromatography, the circular dichroism spectra of enantiomers 4-(P) and 4-(M) were measured and showed …

Towards enhanced durability of electrochromic WO3 interfaced with liquid or ceramic sodium-based electrolytes

2020

Abstract The reversible intercalation of sodium ion into tungsten oxide WO3 appears as an interesting alternative to hydrogen or lithium ion reduction in order to get the characteristic transition from clear transparent to bluish coloration in electrochromic devices, but it has been comparatively less considered. In order to address further viable all-ceramic devices based on sodium ion intercalation and overcome the issue of WO3 degradation in aqueous media, three configurations of WO3 thin film-based electrochromic half-cells were tested, namely in (i) aqueous acidified Na2SO4 electrolyte, (ii) room temperature ionic liquid BEPipTFSI electrolyte and (iii) aqueous acidified Na2SO4 electrol…

Rational solutions to the mKdV equation associated to particular polynomials

2021

International audience; Rational solutions to the modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation are given in terms of a quotient of determinants involving certain particular polynomials. This gives a very efficient method to construct solutions. We construct very easily explicit expressions of these rational solutions for the first orders n = 1 until 10.

Système de prise d'images haute résolution pour l'analyse de projection de particules : application à l'épandage centrifuge d'engrais

2002

This paper describes the design of a high resolution low cost imaging system for the analysis of high speed particle projection. This system, based on a camera and a set of flashes, is used to characterize the centrifugal spreading of fertilizer particles ejected at speeds of environ 30 m s. Multiexposure images collected with the camera installed perpendicular to the output flow of granules are analysed to estimate the trajectories of the fertilizer granules. Very good results are obtained with the Markov random fields method, in comparison with others.
