Adaptation to seasonal changes in the northern hemisphere includes an ability to predict the forthcoming cold season from gradual changes in environmental cues early enough to prepare for the harsh winter conditions. The magnitude and speed of changes in these cues vary between the latitudes, which induces strong selection pressures for local adaptation. However, regional variations in deadweight spending have not yet been considered. An evaluation of regional business subsidies in Finland during 2000–2003 is conducted. Abstract We introduce the notion of variational measure with respect to a derivation basis in a topological measure space and consider a Kurzweil–Henstock-type integral related to this basis. We prove a version of Hake’s theorem in terms of a variational measure.

On Variational Measures Related to Some Bases

Abstract We extend, to a certain class of differentiation bases, some results on the variational measure and the δ-variation obtained earlier for the full interval basis. In particular the theorem stating that the variational measure generated by an interval function is σ-finite whenever it is absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure is extended to any Busemann–Feller basis.

A 3D-2D dimension reduction for $-\Delta_1$ is obtained. A power law approximation from $-\Delta_p$ as $p \to 1$ in terms of $\Gamma$- convergence, duality and asymptotics for least gradient functions has also been provided.
