Tailorable Representation of Security Control Catalog on Semantic Wiki
2018
Selection of security controls to be implemented is an essential part of the information security management process in an organization. There exist a number of readily available information security management system standards, including control catalogs, that could be tailored by the organizations to meet their security objectives. Still, it has been noted that many organizations tend to lack even the implementation of the fundamental security controls. At the same time, semantic wikis have become popular collaboration and information sharing platforms that have proven their strength as an effective way to distribute domain-specific information within an organization. This paper evaluates…
Emotion rating from short blog texts
2008
Being able to automatically perceive a variety of emotions from text alone has potentially important applications in CMC and HCI that range from identifying mood from online posts to enabling dynamically adaptive interfaces. However, such ability has not been proven in human raters or computational systems. Here we examine the ability of naive raters of emotion to detect one of eight emotional categories from 50 and 200 word samples of real blog text. Using expert raters as a 'gold standard', naive-expert rater agreement increased with longer texts, and was high for ratings of joy, disgust, anger and anticipation, but low for acceptance and 'neutral' texts. We discuss these findings in ligh…
Secure Collaborative Learning Practices and Mobile Technology
2008
During the past few years, mobile technologies have become common in everyday life. Almost everyone carry some kind of mobile technological equipment with him or her, for example a personal digital assistant (PDA), a mobile phone, a multimedia player, such as an iPod, or a laptop computer. The use of these equipments is not limited only to workplaces, schools or homes. Particularly useful information and communication technologies (ICTs) are in educational settings. Especially wireless networks and laptop computers may promote many useful practices of collaborative learning (Cutshall, Changchit, & Elwood, 2006; Jones, Holmfeld, & Lindström, 2006). On the one hand, the use of mobile …
The Many Faces of Interactivity in Convergent Media Environments. Assessing Uses and Effects of Interactivity from a User and Management Perspective
2013
Digitization has blurred the distinctions between producers and audiences. Thus, research on interactivity as a key element of convergent media environments has grown dramatically over the past three decades. However, despite this strong research interest there is currently no consensus about the multi-faced and hard-to-grasp concept. Obviously, interactivity is used to describe numerous processes in convergent media environments that are related to communication in general, and online communication and practices like online journalism in particular. This article highlights the main strands in the conceptual development of interactivity and explores some of the effects of interactivity by s…
Datasharing: guía práctica para compartir datos de investigación
2013
To associate research data to the published results favors their reuse by the scientific community, but this does not afford sufficient guarantees of preservation. To store them in databases solves this contingency and provides visibility, but in Spain there are not many services of this kind. For this reason, we describe, evaluate and discuss the pros and cons of foreign multidisciplinary data repositories that can be useful for researchers and information managers: Dryad, Figshare, Zenodo and Dataverse. It is still early to choose optimally and definitively one or the other application, so we conclude with recommendations to guide the user community and intermediaries.
Multilingual information delivery based on a domain ontology
2014
As internationalisation becomes more and more intensive, organizations need to work with information in different languages in their work. Interlingua content delivery in e-learning courses could be effective learning content adaption method for delivering information for much wider audience. This paper suggests high-level framework for multilingual learning content delivery. This approach is based on a domain ontology, which allows to annotate and retrieve learning resources in a language independent way. Such method can improve accessibility, sharing and reuse of multilingual learning content.

Web 2.0 Goes Mobile: Motivations and Barriers of Mobile Social Networks Use in Spain
2012
Mobile social networking sites have become one of the fastest growing Web 2.0 services worldwide both in developing and developed countries and have a major interest for the information systems research community. This chapter aims to give managers and students insight into the mobile social networking industry and the different drivers and barriers to mobile social networking sites adoption. The chapter’s specific goals are to: (i) Identify consumer segments more likely to adopt mobile social networking services; (ii) Analyze the perceived benefits and barriers that encourage/discourage the adoption of mobile social networking services; (iii) Provide empirical research on the Spanish marke…
