A review and species key to TrictenotomaGray, 1832 (Trictenotomidae Blanchard, 1845) from the Indochina bioregion, mainland Southeast Asia, is presented for the first time. Adults of Trictenotoma childreniGray, 1832, T. davidi Deyrolle, 1875 and T. mouhoti Deyrolle, 1875 are redescribed. Trictenotoma pollockisp. nov. from southern Vietnam is described and illustrated. Taxonomic Revision of the Genus Trictenotoma Gray, 1832 (Coleoptera: Trictenotomidae). Part 2 – Species from Hainan and Taiwan

Trictenotoma davidi Deyrolle, 1875 and T. formosanaKriesche, 1919 are the only insular Palaearctic Trictenotomidae. Both species are related and T. formosana was originally defined on the basis of unstable morphological features and originally described as a subspecies of T. davidi. In this paper, a detailed redescription of T. formosana is provided, male and female genital organs are described and illustrated for the first time and the lectotype is designated. Hainan (China) records of T. davidi are presented and morphological variability of this taxon is discussed. The first observation of Trictenotomidae mating behaviour is briefly described.

Ischaliidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) in the Collection of the Natural History Museum, London

Ischaliidae (Tenebrionoidea) is a small, relatively poorly known family of beetles, with fewer than 50 described species. The Coleoptera collections of the Natural History Museum, London are among the largest and most comprehensive in the world, but the Ischaliidae holding is relatively small (136 specimens, 18 species). However, this collection is of great historical and taxonomic importance, since 12 of the 18 species present are represented by name-bearing types, and five are still only known from the type material and have never been re-collected. We here provide an overview of the collection, and describe and illustrate an additional four species new to science, from Japan, I. (s. str.…

Ecology and Diversity of Urban Pine Forest Soil Invertebrates in Rīga, Latvia / Augsnes Bezmugurkaulnieku Bioloģiskā Daudzveidība Urbānajos Priežu Mežos Rīgā, Latvijā

Abstract A study on ecology and diversity of soil invertebrates of urban pine and mixed pine forests was carried out in seven different sampling plots in Rīga during 2014. Ninety eight soil samples were processed and in total, 40 426 specimens were extracted (of them, 25 237 specimens were identified to species level and 15 189 to order level). Indices (abundance, community similarity etc.) characterising faunal diversity and species communities of Rīga city soil fauna were estimated. The most numerous soil invertebrate groups were Collembola, Oribatida and Mesostigmata, accounting for 95% of all collected animals. There was rather high diversity of soil invertebrates in the disturbed urban…
