Part II. Chiral dirhodium (II) catalysts with ortho-metalated arylphosphane ligands in the enantioselective intramolecular cyclopropanation of a racemic α-diazo ketone

Abstract In this report, chiral dirhodium (II) with ortho -metalated phosphane ligands, namely ( M )-Rh 2 (O 2 CR) 2 (PC) 2 [PC =  ortho -metalated aryl phosphane, O 2 CR = carboxylate bridging ligands) ( 1a–g ), have been used for the intramolecular cyclopropanation of racemic1-diazo-6-methyl-3-(2-propenyl)-5-hepten-2-one ( 2 ), containing both a tri- and monosubstituted carbon–carbon double bond, in pentane. The highest level of regiocontrol has been obtained with chiral catalyst Rh 2 (O 2 CCH 3 ) 2 [( p -MeC 6 H 3 )P( p -MeC 6 H 4 ) 2 ] 2 ( M )- 1c , affording favorably trisubstituted cyclopropane 3 versus monosubstituted cyclopropane 4 in 74:26 ratio. An exceptional diastereoselectivity…

Salivary Testosterone and Cortisol as Biomarkers for the Diagnosis of Sarcopenia and Sarcopenic Obesity in Community-Dwelling Older Adults

Nowadays, the appearance of sarcopenia (S) or sarcopenic obesity (SO) is related to aging. According to the criteria of the European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People (EWGSOP), the feasibility of using salivary cortisol and testosterone levels was analyzed as diagnostic biomarkers of S or SO. One hundred and ninety non-institutionalized people aged &ge

Total body skeletal muscle mass and diet in children aged 6-8 years: ANIVA Study.

The objective was to assess if there was any relationship between the amount of skeletal muscle mass (SMM) in children aged 6–8 years and their nutritional intake. The Valencian Anthropometry and Child Nutrition (ANIVA) study is a cross-sectional study with children aged between 6–8 years (n = 1988) from schools in Valencia. Children were distributed into 4 groups for comparison: normal and high SMM and by sex. Anthropometric data were obtained following World Health Organization protocols. Nutritional intake was measured using a prospective 3-day food journal and the KIDMED questionnaire. Of the whole child sample, 63.9% had high SMM values. No differences were found in adherence to a Med…

[Protein intake in community-dwelling postmenopausal women and its relationship with sarcopenia].

Objectives: the general aging of the population is related to the increase in the prevalence of sarcopenic disease; especially among older women, this pathology is closely related to nutrition and specifically to protein consumption in older adults. The aim of our study was to evaluate the possible relationship between a low protein intake and a higher prevalence of sarcopenic disease, a worse dietary pattern, and lower physical performance in postmenopausal women living in the community. Material and methods: the study was carried out in a total of 164 independent women over 65 years of age, recruited from a municipal social center in Valencia (Benimaclet). The presence of sarcopenic patho…
