The rhetoric on stage in Il fu Mattia Pascal. The essay proposes a reflection on some questions and aspects of thetoric in Il fu Mattia Pascal. Devices and figures of the discourse, in relation to an intense theoretical work, take on a specific stylistic function in Pirandello: they support doublings, inversions, suspensions, able to erode the mimetic paradigms. In the first chapters of the novel one can observe that the figure of the chiasm, with the interweaving of different formal pieces, is functional to an idea of flexible and open narration. The study highlights the originality of Consol's stylistic experimentation and examines the iconological construction of novels. The adoption of an iconic perspective is the rhetorical strategy with which the Sicilian author formalizes techniques of metaphorical irradiation and analogical sequences.The problematic intensity of the historic invention is set out in a complex mesh of symmetries and antitheses among pictorial and narrative symbols, and is articulated as metonymic flow of images that are able to show materials and forms of the modern novel.

The Decameroncino is an emblematic text, in the literary workshop of Capuana, of a constant research theoretical on the form of modern novella. The relationship exhibited with Boccaccio's work allows the writer of Mineo to institute a wise game of filming and overturning, woven with the double thread of counterpoint ironic. The organic system of the Decameron is remodeled in the sense of fragmentation. Through a fantastic restless and paradoxical, the narrative suspends criteria of deterministic realism to allude to complexity of the true and of the writing that figures it.

Il saggio analizza un racconto di Piccolo, L'esequie della luna, evidenziando l'intensità metaforica di una prosa le cui strategie espressive, liriche,analogiche, surreali, connotano la produzione in versi dello scrittore siciliano. Si tratta di una favola poetica che intesse storia,sogni e visioni, e, nel contempo, è declinata modernamente come gioco letterario con cui celare e svelare una personale visione della scrittura letteraria: allusiva e raffinata, ironica e favolosa.

Multipurpose space, the figuration of food is revealed, in various literary and pictorial works, a significant meeting point of nature and culture, real and fantastic, medium of multiple artistic projects. During the sec. XV, the thematic and symbolic correlation of food and literary figuration, between Orcagna, Burchiello, Sermini and Pulci, connotes comic languages aimed at the desecration of humanistic utopias and literary stereotypes. Sermini's novels, in the early decades of the fifteenth century, cooperated in the diffusion of irreverent and parodic languages in which anti-normative requests are lodged.
