This working group made a survey and drew maps of herbicide resistances in cereal crops according to modes of action and weed species. These resistances concern mainly grass weeds but also one dicot weeds.
PIPERADE: A double Penning trap for mass separation and mass spectrometry at DESIR/SPIRAL2
International audience; A double Penning trap is being commissioned at CENBG Bordeaux for the future DESIR/SPIRAL2 facility of GANIL. The setup is designed to perform both high-resolution mass separation of the ion beam for trap-assisted spectroscopy, and high-accuracy mass spectrometry of short-lived nuclides. In this paper, the technical details of the new device are described. First offline tests with the purification trap are also presented, showing a mass resolving power of about 105.
Precise measurements of half-lives and branching ratios for the ββ mirror transitions in the decay of 23Mg and 27Si
Half-lives and branching ratios for the two mirror ββ decays of 23Mg and 27Si have been measured at the University of Jyväskylä with the IGISOL facility. The results obtained, T1/2=11.303(3)T1/2=11.303(3) s and T1/2=4.112(2)T1/2=4.112(2) s for the half-lives of 23Mg and 27Si , respectively, are 7 and 8 times more precise than the averages of previous measurements. The values obtained for the super-allowed branching ratios of 23Mg and 27Si are B.R.=92.18(8)%B.R.=92.18(8)% and B.R.=99.74(2)%B.R.=99.74(2)% , respectively. Determination of the Bi209(n,γ)Bi210g cross section using the NICE detector
The capture cross section of $^{209}\mathrm{Bi}(n,\ensuremath{\gamma})^{210g}\mathrm{Bi}$ was measured at different astrophysically relevant energies including thermal capture cross section (25 meV), resonance integral, and the Maxwellian averaged cross section at a thermal energy of $kT=30$ keV. The partial capture cross section $({\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{g})$ was determined using the activation technique and by measuring the $^{210}\mathrm{Po}$ activity. The newly developed and tested NICE detector setup was used to measure the $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ activity of the $^{210}\mathrm{Po}$. New reaction rates for the destruction of $^7$Be during big bang nucleosynthesis measured at CERN/n_TOF and their implications on the cosmological lithium problem
New measurements of the7Be(n,α)4He and7Be(n,p)7Li reaction cross sections from thermal to keV neutron energies have been recently performed at CERN/n_TOF. Based on the new experimental results, astrophysical reaction rates have been derived for both reactions, including a proper evaluation of their uncertainties in the thermal energy range of interest for big bang nucleosynthesis studies. The new estimate of the7Be destruction rate, based on these new results, yields a decrease of the predicted cosmological7Li abundance insufficient to provide a viable solution to the cosmological lithium problem.
Microscale X-ray mapping of CZT arrays: Spatial dependence of amplitude, shape and multiplicity of detector pulses
In this work, we present the results of a microscale X-ray mapping of a 2 mm thick CZT pixel detector, with pixel pitches of 500 μm and 250 μm, using collimated synchrotron X-ray sources at the Diamond Light source (U. K.). The detector is dc coupled to a fast and low noise ASIC (PIXIE ASIC), characterized only by the preamplifier stage. A custom 16-channel digital readout electronics was used, able to perform online fast pulse shape and height analysis (PSHA), with low dead time and reasonable energy resolution at both low and high fluxes.
