Gas chromatographic study of acetyl derivates of chlorinated guaiacols

1982

The gas chromatography of acetyl derivatives of guaiacol and all chlorinated guaiacols has been studied on SE-30, OV-351 and Carbowax 20M capillary columns. The retention order and relative retention times under isotermal and temperature-programmed conditions are discussed. Different retention times for all mono- and dichloro compounds have been observed on the SE-30 column. However, all trichloroguaiacol isomers were separated only on polar columns. The best overall temperature-programmed separations have been achieved on an SE-30 capillary column.

17O NMR study of chlorinated anisoles

1988

The 17O NMR chemical shifts of anisole and all 19 chlorinated anisoles measured in CDCI3 at ambient temperature show a dispersion of approximately 40 ppm. The substituent chemical shifts (SCS) of di- or more highly chlorinated compounds cannot be reproduced by addition of single substituent effects. Theoretical calculations of the 17O NMR chemical shifts have been attempted by molecular mechanical and semi-empirical molecular orbital methods at the INDO level, but the results are not satisfactory.

Production of a magnesium ion beam using the MIVOC method

Abstract We report the successful production of multiply charged Mg ion beams at the Jyvaskyla ECRIS using a magnesium compound, magnesocene. The compound was placed in a separate vacuum chamber connected to the second stage of the 6.4 GHz JYFL-ECRIS. From there the vapour of the compound was allowed to diffuse into the source at room temperature. After a brief optimizing procedure the intensity of the 24 Mg 5+ beam was measured to be 11.8 eμA.

Multiple linear regression analysis of RF values of chlorinated catechols and guaiacols

1981

The multiple linear regression analysis of the RF values of chlorinated catechols and guaiacols has been carried out. The resolved terms, in the regression equation have been used to explain the relative mobility of chlorinated compounds to the reference compound (catechol or guaiacol). The best correlations have been observed for solvent systems which give the greatest standard deviations and relative differences between the RF values. A good correlation between the standard deviation of the RF values and the term which represents the effect of the chlorine atom ortho to the hydroxyl group(s) have also been observed.
