QCD Jets at HERA II.O(? s 2 ) four-jet cross-sections

We present exact expressions for theO(α s 2 ) tree graph four-jet cross-sections in neutral current and charged current deep inelasticep scattering initiated by quarks, antiquarks and gluons including lepton polarization effects. Using helicity amplitudes the partonic cross-sections are given in concise form including all colour, flavour and statistical factors. We explicate the electroweak coupling dependence and state how the partonic cross-sections are folded with the respective parton densities to obtain theep jet cross-sections toO(α s 2 ). We present some numerical results for the neutral current one-photon exchange case. We elaborate on the cut dependence of the jet rates and present…

O(αs2) corrections to high-qT polarized gauge boson production at hadron colliders

Abstract We report first results on O(αs2) corrections to the parity conserving structure functions that describe high-qT polarized gauge boson production in hadron collisions. We present some numerical results for polarized W+ production at the Tevatron p p collider. In particular we find that the relation A0=A2 between the longitudinal and transverse interference structure functions no longer holds true at next-to-leading order (NLO). We calculate the NLO corrections to this relation.

QCD JETS AT HERA I.: O(αs) RADIATIVE CORRECTIONS TO ELECTROWEAK CROSS SECTIONS AND JET RATES

We present the complete O(αs) corrections to the electroweak cross sections of both neutral current and charged current deep inelastic e±p scattering including lepton polarization effects. Changes in the cross section due to the inclusion of next-to-leading-log (NLL) effects are parametrized by K factors, which are defined as the ratio of the NLL O(αs) cross sections and the Born cross section. Using the standard redefinition scheme of the parton densities, we find that the K factors deviate substantially from unity for small values of the Bjorken-Scaling variable x. We also elaborate on problems that arise when defining jet cross sections in ep scattering and present numerical results for…
