This paper presents a Web-based data integration methodology and tool framework, called X-TIME, for the development of Business-to-Business (B2B) design environments and applications. X-TIME provides a data model translator toolkit based on an extensible meta model and XML. It allows the creation of adaptable semantic-oriented meta models to support the design of wrappers or reconciliators (mediators), taking into account characteristics of interoperable information systems, such as extensibility and composability. Merging XML documents can be of key importance in several applications. For instance, merging the RSS news from same or different sources and providers can be beneficial for end-users in various scenarios. In this paper, we address this issue and explore the relatedness measure between RSS elements. We show here how to define and compute exclusive relations between any two elements and provide several predefined merging operators that can be extended and adapted to human needs. Similarity estimation module for OWSCIS

Semantic interoperability based on ontologies is nowadays becoming a great challenge. We propose an architecture for semantic-based cooperation called OWSCIS (Ontology and Web Service based Cooperation of Information Sources). It allows to map various information sources using ontologies and to answer users' queries over the cooperation. In this paper we focus on the similarity estimation service of the OWSCIS Architecture which allows to discover mappings between different ontologies. It relies on various mappings methods which are combined and refined to semi-automatically generate mappings between a local and a reference ontologies.

Merging related RSS news (coming from one or different sources) is beneficial for end-users with different backgrounds (journalists, economists, etc.), particularly those accessing similar information. In this paper, we provide a practical approach to both: measure the relatedness, and identify relationships between RSS elements. Interoperation of heterogeneous and autonomous information systems has traditionally been hampered by semantic differences in their data models. In this paper, we address the problem by defining a methodology called TIME, which is based on an extensible meta model. ISIS: a semantic mediation model and an agent based architecture for GIS interoperability

The diversity of spatial information systems promotes the need to integrate heterogeneous spatial or geographic information systems (GIS) in a cooperative environment. The paper describes the research project ISIS (Interoperable Spatial Information System) which is a semantic mediation approach to support GIS interoperability. Its key characteristic is a dynamic resolution of semantic conflicts which is adequate for achieving autonomy, flexibility and extensibility. International audience; Biomedical domain and proteomics in particular are faced with an increasing volume of data. The heterogeneity of data sources implies heterogeneity in the representation and in the content of data. Data may also be incorrect, implicate errors and can compromise the analysis of experiments results. Our approach aims to ensure the initial quality of data during import into an information system dedicated to proteomics. It is based on the joint use of models, which represent the system sources, and ontologies, which are use as mediators between them. The controls, we propose, ensure the validity of values, semantics and data consistency during import process.

This paper presents a Web-based data integration methodology and tool framework, called X-TIME, for the development of business-to-business (B2B) design environments and applications. X-TIME provides a data model translator toolkit based on an extensible metamodel and XML. It allows the creation of adaptable semantics oriented metamodels to facilitate the design of wrappers or reconciliators (mediators) by taking into account several characteristics of interoperable information systems such as extensibility and composability.
