A Machine Learning Model to Predict Intravenous Immunoglobulin-Resistant Kawasaki Disease Patients: A Retrospective Study Based on the Chongqing Population
Objective: We explored the risk factors for intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) resistance in children with Kawasaki disease (KD) and constructed a prediction model based on machine learning algorithms. Methods: A retrospective study including 1,398 KD patients hospitalized in 7 affiliated hospitals of Chongqing Medical University from January 2015 to August 2020 was conducted. All patients were divided into IVIG-responsive and IVIG-resistant groups, which were randomly divided into training and validation sets. The independent risk factors were determined using logistic regression analysis. Logistic regression nomograms, support vector machine (SVM), XGBoost and LightGBM prediction models wer…
The Approach Behavior to Angry Words in Athletes—A Pilot Study
An increasing number of studies have found that athletes have a higher level of aggression than non-athletes. Anger is an important factor in the generation of aggressive behavior, and anger has been found to relate to both approach behavior and avoidance behavior. The present pilot study compared the aggression level of athletes and non-athletes using the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire, and examined the responses of participants to anger-related stimuli using the manikin task, a paradigm that measures approach-avoidance behavior. In total, 15 athletes and 15 non-athletes finished the questionnaire and the manikin task, which included two conditions. In the anger approach condition, pa…
Stimulation with carbachol alters endomembrane distribution and plasma membrane expression of intracellular proteins in lacrimal acinar cells.
The events that lead to Sjogren's autoimmune processes in the lacrimal gland remain poorly understood. The acinar cell's responses to acute cholinergic stimulation include release of secretory products across the apical plasma membrane (apm) and a number of processes related to traffic between endomembrane compartments and the basal-lateral plasma membranes (blm), such as recruitment of Na, K-ATPase, accelerated recycling, and accelerated transcytosis of secretory IgA. We tested the hypothesis that stimulation-induced acceleration of endomembrane traffic is accompanied by changes in compartmentation and increased blm expression of proteins that are normally sequestered in endomembrane compa…
Tuning of QoS Aware Load Balancing Algorithm (QoS–LB) for Highly Loaded Server Clusters
This paper introduces a novel algorithm for content based switching. A content based scheduling algorithm (QoS Aware Load Balancing Algorithm, QoS-LB) which can be used at the front-end of the server cluster is presented. The front-end switch uses the content information of the requests and the load on the back servers to choose the server to handle each request. At the same time, different Quality of Service (QoS) classes of the customers can be considered as one parameter in the load balancing algorithm. This novel feature becomes more important when service providers begin to offer the same services for customers with different priorities.
QoS- and revenue-aware resource allocation mechanisms in multiclass IP networks
A global perspective on effectiveness of aid for trade
Recent global initiatives on debt relief and development assistance call for increasing aid for trade to the poorest countries. The paper applies a multi-country computable general equilibrium model to measure the effectiveness of alternative aid for trade categories. The findings show that aid for trade policies expand trade and alleviate international income inequalities in the recipient countries, that will benefit mainly from aid for trade adjustment and technical assistance.
Comparison of social-ecological resilience between two grassland management patterns driven by grassland land contract policy in the Maqu, Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau
Embraced for decision-making, resilience has evolved as a meaningful term in areas such as ecology, the economy and society. After a policy of grassland contracts was implemented on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, two grassland management patterns evolved: the multi-household management pattern (MMP) and the single-household management pattern (SMP). Within a resilience-driven perspective, this study compared the outcomes of these grassland management patterns by measuring their effects on the resilience of grazing, ecological, economic and social systems. Resilience indicators for each of the four systems were: grazing system (grazing space, transhumance, water source and reproduction); ecolo…
Monitoring the formation of biosilica catalysed by histidine-tagged silicatein.
Surface bound silicatein retains its biocatalytic activity, which was demonstrated by monitoring the immobilisation of silicatein using a histidine-tag chelating anchor and the subsequent biosilicification of SiO(2) on surfaces by surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
Characterization of C4-2 Prostate Cancer Bone Metastases and Their Response to Castration
New well-characterized preclinical models of prostate cancer (CaP) bone metastases are needed to improve our understanding of the development of CaP-related bone disease in patients. Here we describe characterization of a model consisting of direct injection of C4–2 cells into tibias. Introduction: Prostate cancer (CaP) has a high proclivity to metastasize to bone. Development and characterization of preclinical models of CaP bone metastases are of high interest. The objective of this study was to characterize C4–2 bone metastases and their response to castration. Materials and Methods: Cell suspensions of C4-2, a subline of LNCaP, were injected directly into the tibias of intact male mice.…
Functionalized Calix[8]arenes, Synthesis and Self-assembly on Graphite
With the intention of building hollow tubular structures by self-assembly, we have designed and successfully synthesized a series of calix[8]arene derivatives. Their phenolic units were functionalized in p-position by various groups which are able to interact via hydrogen bonding or π−π stacking. Ethynyl, amide, urea, or imide links were chosen for the covalent attachment of these functional groups, to ensure the adjustment of an optimal distance for their interaction. Two different kinds of nanostructures self-assembled on a highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) surface were found by scanning force microscopy: parallel aligned nanorods in which the calixarene molecules are adsorbed ed…
Hemispheric Differences in Functional Interactions Between the Dorsal Lateral Prefrontal Cortex and Ipsilateral Motor Cortex
Background: The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) in both hemispheres have a central integrative function for motor control and behavior. Understanding the hemispheric difference between DLPFC and ipsilateral motor cortex connection in the resting-state will provide fundamental knowledge to explain the different roles DLPFC plays in motor behavior. Purpose: The current study tested the interactions between the ipsilateral DLPFC and the primary motor cortex (M1) in each hemisphere at rest. We hypothesized that left DLPFC has a greater inhibitory effect on the ipsilateral M1 compared to the right DLPFC. Methods: Fourteen right-handed subjects were tested in a dual-coil paired-pulse parad…
High-spin states in205Rn:A new shears band structure?
The high-spin structure of {sup 205}Rn has been investigated for the first time following the {sup 170}Er({sup 40}Ar,5n) and {sup 197}Au({sup 14}N,6n) reactions at beam energies of 183 MeV and 90{endash}110 MeV, respectively, using the Jurosphere and YRAST Ball arrays. Two new cascades have been identified which dominate the high-spin decay. One of these, consisting of ten stretched M1 transitions with unobserved E2 crossover transitions, is interpreted as a shears structure based on the {nu}i{sub 13/2}{sup {minus}1}{circle_times}{pi}i{sub 13/2}{sup 2} (or {nu}i{sub 13/2}{sup {minus}1}{circle_times}{pi}h{sub 9/2}i{sub 13/2}) configuration. {copyright} {ital 1999} {ital The American Physical…
Revenue-Aware Resource Allocation in the Future Multi-Service IP Networks
In the future IP networks, a wide range of different service classes must be supported in a network node and different classes of customers will pay different prices for their used node resources based on their Service-Level-Agreements. In this paper, we link the resource allocation issue with pricing strategies and explore the problem of maximizing the revenue of service providers in a network node by optimally allocating a given amount of node resources among multiple service classes. Under the linear pricing strategy, the optimal resource allocation scheme is derived for the case that no firm Quality-of-Service (QoS) guarantees are required for all service classes, which can achieve the …

Deformation history of the Hengshan Complex: Implications for the tectonic evolution of the Trans-North China Orogen
Abstract Structural analysis indicates that the Hengshan Complex underwent five distinct episodes of deformation (D1–D5). The D1 episode formed small isoclinal folds (F1), penetrative axial planar foliations (S1) and mineral stretching lineations (L1). D1 fabrics were reworked by following D2 deformation. Associated with D2 was the development of NW-verging asymmetric folds and accompanying thrust faults. Both D1 and D2 resulted from crustal thickening and coherent with prograde and peak metamorphism. D2 deformation was followed by transpressional dextral shearing (D3), including top-to-NW oblique-slip shearing and NNE–SSW dextral strike-slip shearing. Ongoing collision led to development o…
<title>Revenue-maximization-based adaptive WFQ</title>
In the future Internet, di erent applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP) and Video-on-Demand (VoD) arise with di erent Quality of Service (QoS) parameters including e.g. guaranteed bandwidth, delay jitter, and latency. Different kinds of service classes (e.g. gold, silver, bronze) arise. The customers of di erent classes pay di erent prices to the service provider, who must share resources in a plausible way. In a router, packets are queued using a multi-queue system, where each queue corresponds to one service class. In this paper, an adaptive Weighted Fair Queue based algorithm for traAEc allocation is presented and studied. The weights in gradient type WFQ algorithm are adapted using r…
Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy (3rd edition)
Seuls les 100 premiers auteurs dont les auteurs INRA ont été entrés dans la notice. La liste complète des auteurs et de leurs affiliations est accessible sur la publication.; International audience; In 2008 we published the first set of guidelines for standardizing research in autophagy. Since then, research on this topic has continued to accelerate, and many new scientists have entered the field. Our knowledge base and relevant new technologies have also been expanding. Accordingly, it is important to update these guidelines for monitoring autophagy in different organisms. Various reviews have described the range of assays that have been used for this purpose. Nevertheless, there continues…
Sjögren's autoimmunity: how perturbation of recognition in endomembrane traffic may provoke pathological recognition at the cell surface
CD4 T cell antigen recognition requires presentation by major histocompatibility complex Class II molecules (MHC II). B cell surface immunoglobulins recognize antigens independently of MHC II, but activation typically requires CD4 cell cytokines as accessory signals. Plasma membrane-endomembrane traffic in lacrimal gland acinar cells, targets of autoimmune activity in Sjogren's syndrome, may satisfy both requirements. The Golgi protein galactosyltransferase and the lysosomal proteins cathepsin B and cathepsin D appear at the plasma membranes during sustained secretomotor stimulation. The RNA transcription termination factor La, a frequent target of Sjogren's autoantibodies, appears in the a…
The Impact of Trade Liberalisation on Water Use: A Computable General Equilibrium Analysis
Water is scarce in many countries. One instrument to improve the allocation of a scarce resource is (efficient) pricing or taxation. However, water is implicitly traded on international markets, particularly through food and textiles, so that impacts of water taxes cannot be studied in isolation, but require an analysis of international trade implications. We include water as a production factor in a multi-region, multi-sector computable general equilibrium model (GTAP), to assess a series of water tax policies. We find that water taxes reduce water use, and lead to shifts in production, consumption, and international trade patterns. Countries that do not levy water taxes are nonetheless af…

Supramolecular structures formed by calix[8]arene derivatives.
Octamethoxy calix[8]arenes substituted in the para position by amide, urea, and imide functions were synthesized from the octamethyl ether of tert-butylcalix[8]arene by ipso nitration, reduction, and acylation. Scanning force microscopy of spin coated samples on graphite suggests that these derivatives self-organize into tubular nanorods via hydrogen bonds between p-amide functions. A single-crystal X-ray structure reveals a centrosymmetric conformation for the octanitro derivative. [structure: see text]
Fiscal sustainability in the EU: From the short-term risk to the long-term challenge
Abstract The paper analyses fiscal sustainability of public debt using a dynamic computable general equilibrium model. First, we identify the short-term risk for fiscal stress at country level; second, we investigate the assumption of convergence towards the government debt threshold (medium-term challenge); and, third, the requirement that debt projections do not show unsustainable trends (long-term challenge). The empirical implementation includes 18 EU Member States. Our findings show that the constant tax rate that stabilizes the public debt converges to 50 percentage of GDP for all the sample countries and tax revenues are the main driving forces for fiscal sustainability. Also our fin…
Lithotectonic elements and geological events in the Hengshan–Wutai–Fuping belt: a synthesis and implications for the evolution of the Trans-North China Orogen
The Hengshan–Wutai–Fuping belt is located in the middle segment of the Trans-North China Orogen, a Palaeoproterozoic continental collisional belt along which the Eastern and Western blocks amalgamated to form the North China Craton. The belt consists of the medium- to high-grade Hengshan and Fuping gneiss complexes and the intervening low- to medium-grade Wutai granite–greenstone terrane, and most igneous rocks in the belt are calc-alkaline and have affinities to magmatic arcs. Previous tectonic models assumed that the Hengshan and Fuping gneiss assemblages were an older basement to the Wutai supracrustal rocks, but recent studies indicate that the three complexes constitute a single, long-…
