Review: Neuroradiological aspects of infantile spasms

1987

With the modern noninvasive brain imaging methods, cerebral lesions of different types and degrees can frequently be determined in infants with West syndrome. In CT examinations preceding the spasms and the ACTH therapy, "idiopathic" forms of infantile spasms were rare. The CT findings consistent with perinatal or postnatal encephalopathy were more frequent than those found with embryonic or fetal lesions alone. The fact that pathognomonic changes cannot be determined, may reflect the low specificity of CT diagnosis in infants with chronic CNS diseases. A slight and mostly transient enlargement of CSF spaces during ACTH therapy is a probable side-effect of the medication. In infants with pe…

Suprasellar Granular Cell Tumor

1992

A case of a suprasellar granular cell tumor, approximately 1.5 cm in diameter, in a 68-year-old woman is described. Diagnosis was established postoperatively by histopathological examination of the tumor tissue. The preoperative computed tomographic scan revealed a slightly hyperdense suprasellar mass with strong contrast enhancement. There was no evidence of calcification. The T1-weighted image on magnetic resonance imaging scan showed an isointense tumor with non-homogeneous enhancement after intravenous gadolinium diethylene-triamine-pentaacetic acid. In the proton-weighted image, the suprasellar mass presented a non-homogeneously enhanced signal. A non-homogeneous signal reduction was s…

Accordance of Online Health Information on Prostate Cancer with the European Association of Urology Guidelines.

2017

Background: The internet is an emerging source of information for prostate cancer (PCa) patients. Since little is known about the quality of information on PCa provided online, we investigated its accordance to the latest European Association of Urology (EAU) guidelines. Methods: A total of 89 German web pages were included for analysis. A quality model classifying the provider of information and its expertise was introduced. Correctness of provided information was systematically compared to the EAU guidelines. Results: Information was provided by medical experts (41%), media (1…
