Determination of charge carrier mobility of hole transporting polytriarylamine-based diodes

2010

Hole transport properties of three different side chain poly(triarylamines) have been determined by means of the analysis of steady-state current-voltage characteristics using co-planar diode structures. The interpretation is based on space-charge limited models with field-dependent mobility. Mobilities between ~ 10- 8 and 10- 6 cm2 V- 1 s- 1 are obtained. The highest mobility is achieved for poly(tetraphenylbenzidine) devices and the lowest for poly(triphenylamine) devices. Electron-rich methoxy substituents increase the mobility of poly(triphenylamine)s. A comparison of the mobility values with those obtained using organic field-effect transistors is also given. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All r…

Controlled solvent vapour annealing for polymer electronics

2009

Solvent vapour annealing (SVA) is demonstrated as an attractive method to anneal polymer blend and block copolymer thin films at low temperatures. It is especially suitable for organic electronics, where sensitive materials with strong intermolecular interactions are used. We demonstrate the effect of solvent vapour exposure on the film properties of a perylene bisimide acrylate (PPerAcr) side-chain polymer with strong crystallinity at the perylene bisimide moieties. We record the film thickness, light absorption and fluorescence as a function of the relative solvent vapour pressure. At a certain threshold of relative solvent vapour pressure, we observe a disruption of the π–π stacking, whi…

Light-emitting diodes based on phenylenevinylene oligomers with defined chain lengths

1997

Abstract We present characteristic electroluminescence data on single-layer devices based on three different oligo phenylenevinylene compounds with defined chain lengths. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) were prepared by subsequent vacuum evaporation of the oligomer film and the A1 top electrode onto an indium—tin oxide (ITO) substrate. The LEDs show light emission in the spectral range of yellow to orange depending on the conjugation length of the compound used. We report photoluminescence and optical absorption data of the thin sublimed films, together with the wavelength dependence of the electroluminescence and with the current—voltage characteristics of the LED devices. The redox behavior …
